Where is the cheapest place to get an ipad mini 64GB retina (the model that was sold before the ipad mini 3 was released).
Now they call this model "ipad mini 3" but it is just the same old model.
Do you think the apple stores still have this model on stock?
    Where online do you recommend?

The online apple refurbished store is a good spot.

I had the same issue a week ago. When I saw the Mini 3 was last years model for all practical purposes, I decided to get a deal on the Mini 2. I wanted the 64 GB.

I bought a brand new iPad Mini with Retina (what is now called the Mini 2) with 64 GB for the "closeout" price $384 at Costco. I was there today for normal stuff and I noticed they still had them at that price. That is $116 below the Mini 3 with 64 GB, plus Costco extends the manufacture's warranty by an extra 2 years at no extra charge, so you don't really need Apple Care. If you don't have a Costco nearby, you might find a similar deal at Sam's Club.
