returned the iPad mini.
went to check out the fold in the samsung store. Except for the crappy pen size, I thought it was a far superior solution to the mini and was more than impressed.

I agree
One thing Apple are very good at, it’s upselling you to higher tech
I had the mini 7 and while I loved the form factor, I too really noticed the low refresh in comparison to my iPhone pro. Just looked way too choppy and blurry in motion.
Also the lack of Face ID really annoyed me and I kept having to move finger to the top of the iPad to use Touch ID. Again, my iPhone pro had spoiled me
So I got an iPad Pro instead
If the regular and mini are kind of entry level iPads - they sure push you towards the pro if you enjoy using iPads

So there's this thing about baseball players, the best of the best have been tested to have "better than perfect vision." Like, "perfect" is 20:20, right? Only that's not perfect, that's average. And for every person with below-average vision, there's someone with above average. The best baseball players have 16:20. (fun fact, you can get prescription eyeglasses that give you better vis; mine are 18:20)

You, my friend, are blessed with vision that can perceive very high frame rates, probably much higher than the average person. You're probably great at videogames.

I can only perceive the difference between 60hz and 120hz when they're side-by-side, and even then I find it more of a curiosity than something that assists or abets usability.
That’s interesting. I do actually have 16:20 vision. My father who is 79 years old doesn’t need glasses and had that vision as well.

Eh, my main use cases for the iPad mini are as an e-reader (where the screen is mostly static) or playing some emulated GBC/GBA/NDS games where 60hz is completely fine. I agree that the iPad mini's screen needs to be better, but it's not unusable.

My dream iPad mini is probably one that gets the iPad Pro treatment with a thinner chassis from an OLED display, narrower bezels with increase screen size (so the overall width and height is unchanged), and a nano texture display option.
