You're paying for all the EU regulations Apple is having to waste enormous resources on complying with. The EU has more demands on the way for Apple.
They didn’t change the refresh direction, which means you still get screen tearing when scrolling vertically in portrait orientation. Reports are divided on how much it’s now visually less jarring due to other hardware improvements.
Final verdict... Some people chalk up complaining about "jelly scrolling" as a way to get through the day. Others don't notice it.
The iPad mini is a smaller version of the air. The next model still won’t have oled
The last model got a design upgrade this model was only ever going to be a spec boost
The EU's demands have gotten under Apple's skin and they want to make you pay. Sorry, mate...but thanks for getting Apple to loosen up some of their overly strict practices. I'm sure they'll cool off one day and let you have 'AI'. Maybe it'll be something actually worthwhile by then.
I pre-ordered a Mini 7 for my wife and will pick it up at the Apple store in a couple of hours. Trading in her 3 year old 6.
What the heck are you guys expecting from this thing? The only real significant upgrade I can think of would be OLED, and it would be bizarre if that came to the iPad Mini before the iPad Air.
It sucks and I want it too, but clearly the supply chain just isn't there yet.
1000X This. Apple has failed to live up to its promise with the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro, with most of the advertised features not being available until well into 2025. It would be funny if it weren't so infuriating for me, as an iPhone 16 pro owner who had completely different expectations for the device I bought based on the advertisements I was served by Apple convincing me to upgrade for them.
A point that becomes irrelevant in 5 days. Of course you’re correct, but for devs and PB testers the final build is available to install if you can’t wait. As far as the rabbit hole goes be prepared for a lot of tunnels to get lost in. iPadOS 19 apparently will be even more saturated with AI features. Not like people need all this but all these tech companies think this is the next technology gold rush.

Well worth it, IMHO
I wish Apple had been more generous with the colors. The blue and purple are basically silver with a slight hint of blue and purple depending on the light. Imagine the iPad mini 7 available in the same teal, ultramarine and pink colors of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.
I’d buy an iPad Mini that was colored like the current run of iMacs — purple, red, whatever — in a heartbeat. Life is short.
Expecting no shortage of the new mini. Plenty of iPads should be available for anyone.
Well according to another thread as far as popularity the colors blue and shadow grey are front runners. They resemble the colors the iPad Air uses for 2024, kinda a pastel lighter shades, except for shadow grey which is also not as dark as 2021 colors. Purple previously was the unique color of choice in 2021, but this go around it’s not a standout, just pretty to some perspectives. Light Blue is really the 2024 unique color this year.
