OLED 120 hz ,Display Zoom , Face ID

Please!
Yes. FaceID, please. I know people love their 120Hz screens, and Apple should absolutely give the next iPad mini a 120 Hz display. But as the owner of an iPad mini 7, the lack of FaceID is my biggest complaint. The TouchID in the power button is an endless source of minor frustrations.

Concerning for sure.

The iPad mini is not currently "too small" or anything.
In fact, it's actively chosen by those of us who use it specifically for its small size.

Exactly, that's the whole point, just like with the iPhone Mini, the size IS the key feature, every other iPad in the line up is an option if one prefers a larger screen.

I like the form factor of the Mini, but it's a bit rich for my blood. I do wish there was a non-premium version -- something like the standard vanilla iPad, but smaller.

That's its own issue for sure.

The price jack from $399 to $499 was extreme and I maintain totally unjustified value wise.

The article does seem to hint at perhaps some product tiering here, so who knows.

Maybe it'll go Normal/Pro

I wish they would make the screen more 4:3 again.

A really great point. I often forget about this as a current Mini 5 user.

Drives me nuts that aspect ratios have been so geared around "HD video" (essentially).

That apsect ratio makes very little sense for many of these various device types.

Mine too. I pick it up and just look at it, waiting for it to open like my 16PM does. It's a jarring experience. In my meaningless opinion, all iPhones and iPads should have the option of FaceID.
I agree about having the option, but I like to keep a Touch ID device at my bed for early in the morning when I have dry sleepy eyes that can’t look straight yet, and where Face ID horribly fails. I prefer the old Home button Touch ID for that, though.

I am keeping my mini 6 until there’s an M chip in the mini. I want an iPad mini Pro. Give me feature parity with the full sized Pro line but with a mini sized display!

Hey, everyone… just wanted to let you know that the mini AFTER the 8 is absolutely on the way. No newsletter to read, no ads (of my own😉) to view, just giving you my prediction as an analyst that is NOT with an org that previously reported about a “big hack” that was never a thing.

We need more brightness. I use my mini exclusively in aviation and in a bright cockpit, the current mini can be hard to see as it's not quite bright enough.
Unless it's the same tandem OLED that is currently used in the Pro models, I don't think you'll get what you're looking for. Display analysts have been touting single-layer LTPS technology for future versions of the iPad mini and Air, probably for cost reasons. They could use a tandem OLED that uses a LTPS backplane but it wouldn't be cheap.

Absolutely love my mini but what I don’t love is apple’s strange/terrible pricing for it.

It’s only marginally better than the base iPad but starts at 170 more. The damn thing has a smaller screen so costs them less yet there’s a massive markup anyway. Yeah I know the chip is 1 gen newer etc but it doesn’t justify the premium on price. If anything the mini should cost less!

No doubt Apple then wonder why it sells in low volumes. /rant

While I'm glad to see some changes coming to the device, these won't be enough to get me to upgrade from my Mini 7. However, these plus ProMotion and FaceID would make it an instant upgrade for me.
I’m not sure I love the rumors about the screen getting larger.

I guess it remains to be seen what the physical size will do, but we like the mini for the mini part

Ruuumoors - guess we'll see when the 8 are coming.
On 2nd thought, I might pass this upgrade - my 7 do all I want from it for now.
Don't need the fancy stuff now, and I don't want a larger mini 😕
