iPhone companion. Rather than having to carry a backup phone or battery packs, I prefer just using a somewhat larger companion device. That way my phone stays in pocket much of the time unless I otherwise need it. This results in less charge cycles too. I rarely have to rely on cabled chargers also I get away with using casual wireless charging where it's available.

The mini is a very satisfying device for what it's worth. It's very modest. Seems just right for browsing, reading, etc. While still being concealable and portable.

Heh - was just gonna say this. I read on it and use it with ForeFlight.

Sometimes I think about just getting a big phone (or maybe the upcoming Ultra/Fold) to go down to one device, but I do a lot of international travel and tend to always be wandering around touristy areas - it's nice having a cheap(ish) phone in those situations in case it gets stolen.

I was today years old when I realised the Apple-provided shots of these say 'Mini' on the screen. I think my brain had always subconsciously recognised it as writing but maybe read it as 'Milli', presumably a tribute to '80s pop frauds Milli Vanilli.

The rumors are saying that Apple is making this one more water resistant. If you end up with water damage, you can no longer blame it on the rain.

Everything that I want/need to do I do it on my mini 6. I have an Air ( which I feel was a waste of money) with better specifications that is lost somewhere around the house, which Ι don't bother to look for.

16e + Apple silicone case (for magsafe) + iPad Mini 7 Refurb will cost less than $800 if u get the right deal. Just keep the phone in your pocket and get a hand/wrist strap for the tablet.

I've tended to notice that iPad Minis are used a lot by small businesses for their point of sale as opposed to using their personal phones. Lower cost than the larger iPads and laptops with decent size and storage memory.
 
After using foldable phones, and with the Z Fold 8 approximating the aspect ratio/size of the iPad Mini, the iPad Mini has gone from my most used to least used Apple device. The foldables just seem like better tablets (lighter, thinner, always in my pocket) than the Mini. It's exciting to see what Apple brings to the table, but I'm sure the cost will be discouraging.
 
Aside from its size, marginally better display and slightly improved chipset, I don’t really find the iPad mini to be a good value any more, compared to the standard iPad A16.

The iPad mini is for users who generally do not need to do any serious work and who don’t mind the cramped display restrictions. Having to pay extra and still suffer with the limitations inherent in the form factor seems wrong to me.

You might as well buy an older generation refurbished Air or Pro if all you want is a cheaper iPad. Mini owners won't do that, the whole selling point is the portability and size.

Unfortunately, Apple makes you pay for that smaller size and lower weight, when it comes to the iPad.

With the MacBook Air/Pro models, bigger displays means higher cost. On the other hand, the iPad mini takes a different tack—greater expense for the smaller form factor. It's not that much better than the standard iPad in terms of specs. What with the price hikes, the iPad mini is more and more becoming a weaker value proposition.

The 12" MacBook was more expensive than the 13" Air (it seated between the Air and the Pro, while having a smaller screen), the iPad Mini has superior specs than the base iPad.

What to you is a cramped display restriction is the main advantage and selling point to others: a full iPad experience on a more portable, easier for travel, package.

In my case I can hold a Mini with one hand and greatly prefer it for reading and media consumption than the full sized iPad.

Yes, I'd agree that the Mini could be more convenient for reading and media consumption in general than the larger iPads.

I never really got past the limitations of the screen size for most things, though. It has bothered me that Apple wants consumers to pay more for what is in some ways a more limited experience (= less screen real estate). That's just me, though.
