its going to be a great gift this holiday season. iPod touch starting at 299, vs the iPad mini at 329? I would pay the extra for the iPad mini, even with its lack of a retina display.

Agreed. Thinking about getting one for my Mum for Xmas, but I think I'll wait to see it in the flesh before making a decision.

I'm not fond of the mini but this I can agree on if compared to the iPod touch.
