I have really flip-flopped back and forth with my opinion on the mini. At first, I was all excited about it and ready to upgrade to it from my old iPad 1. But then I took my wife's Nook Color and installed some apps on it that would be similar to what I have on my current iPad and have about come to the conclusion I really do prefer the form factor of the current iPad over the mini size a lot. I just found the mini size too small for most of the things I do. So I'm back now thinking I'll just upgrade to the regular iPad whenever the next refresh occurs. I need to upgrade badly because my iPad 1 seems to be getting slower and slower the more I use it plus I hate that it is not getting IOS6.

I'm not going to get one, I like the 10" one, but it sure looks nice. This puts the iPod touch in a weird spot. This iPad should be priced similarly, making the iPod seem grossly expensive.

This.

Especially after they announced new Touches at a slightly higher price point, while keeping the old touches at a lower price point. If there is an iPad mini, there will be severe overlapping in prices between the iPad mini and the iPod touch and iPad.

Theoretically, Apple would sell the low storage iPad Mini at a similar price point as a higher-end touch (7" screen & 16gb vs 4" screen & 64gb), and have the high storage iPad mini at a lower end iPad (7" screen & 64 gb vs 10" screen & 16gb).

I suppose there is room, and ultimately it will allow the consumer to decide and buy the right product for them. More choice is always better for the consumer.

I think it will be a non-retina display with a really poor back camera, maybe from the iPhone 4 or the iPad 2. This could bring the price down to 299.

This thing needs to be $199 or it's almost pointless. It needs to compete with and blow away any Kindle.

The proportions of the bezel are completely crazy. Calling BS on this one.

I'm certainly not buying the fact that there's a home screen to be proof (as some sites are claiming this is a 'working' unit). To easy to mock that up, print it out and put a piece of glass over it to make it look real.

If there is an iPad Mini (which I still don't think there will be) it won't look anything like that. It's too thick, the edges aren't right, the bezel is terrible. That is what a Chinese company would make if they were trying to knock-off an iPad Mini.

Looks like Ye Olde 4:3 aspect ratio. IMO it's going to be 16:9, like the iPhone 5. Fits in one palm and you'll be able to watch movies without 20th century style letterboxing.

Ill say it, I would easily pay £300 for one of these. Thats around $490.

Not saying that everyone would. but thats about the limit to which I would be prepared to pay if it came with ipad 2 specs.

At £250 ($400) I'd be all over it, and at £200-£230 ($325-$375) i'd buy two

Well, I could say the same about all MacBooks smaller than 15" but clearly there's a market for those ultraportables. As a graphic designer/musician I find them lacking in resources and screen real estate, but that's just me. As small as the iPad is, it's a tad heavy for its size, and you can't grip it by the edges and hold it securely in one hand unless you're actor Michael Gambon. So I can see a market for an 'iPad Air', so to speak. A super light and cheap (for Apple) one that you have no excuses not to bring everywhere.

Fake again.

The badges on the App Store and Weather are incomplete.

A bad photoshop job.

:D

It will prove out that the iPad mini will be the sweet spot for these devices.

I am in for 2 and will sell my ipad 3 as soon as pre-orders start.

I like the 16:9 ratio of the new iPhone and iPod Touch, but with a 7" device I'm not sure it makes sense - a device that small (7") would be used a lot for reading, and 16:9 would be too narrow, don't you think? I think it's more for reading than for movies - I would prefer a bit wider, more like the Kindle (which I have and love and might<grin> give up in a heart beat for a good iPad Mini offering).

Don't see Apple releasing an iPad mini considering it would most likely cannibalize their other products.

The back is "Apple Style" and looks quite nice.

Too bad the iPhone 5 got stuck with such a boring back.

Oh well, at least they got the "boring look" out of the way now.

Perhaps next year's iPhone will have some style. Boxy, rectangular with rounded corners is getting old. :)

Well, they can't keep selling the iPad 2 forever. I expect this will replace the iPad 2, if it materializes. And it will likely occupy the same $399 price point.

Looking forward to this new toy....wonder how this is going to sell?

Hopefully there will be a nice low price point.

wow...I hope it is a little lower. Like 299.
