What do you guys think?

Rip off - $399?

Well Priced? - Current gen CPU with 64bit architecture and retina display is worth it.

Or would you rather pay a little more for the larger iPad? - $100 is not a large difference for a bigger, lighter, all new design.

Insanely affordable given it has the full power of the iPad Air in a gorgeous iPad Mini retina display.

I think it's amazing what Apple has achieved today. They've basically destroyed all their competitors with devices nobody else could ever make.

that was a dumb move to put it at 399 with the only justification being retina...and only dropping price of regular mini 30 bucks was dumb should have dropped it more, you can already get it for 299 at target most weekends

Too expensive IMO.

My first thought too, but it's basically the Air in a smaller package (vs. the original mini, which had a weaker screen and weaker processing power). Not a bad deal, especially if you just want the smaller size.

I wonder if they're going to release an iPad Mini (c)? :p

Definitely overpriced, but thats Apple and they will still sell tons.

overpriced? Lol. The seller sets the market. Not the buyer. I don't see any other company making anything even close.

Sad it wasn't $329 like the original and even more sad to hear it's not available till later November. Why can't they just give a dang date!

Makes sense to me. Retina display and A7 weren't going to be cheap. This is a big jump forward that moves the Mini from the "cheap" alternative to a leading product in their line.

It will sell like hotcakes.

I will be grabbing my daughter one for Christmas and I'm considering one for myself. Probably won't since I'm still using my work iPad 4.

Kinda thinking about keeping my ipad mini for awhile, no battery updates, MEH..

Well then you can now get the 1st gen Mini for $269 at Target then :D

I think the price increase is somewhat justified and expected with the retina display, plus it's using current gen CPU, not two gen old.

How is it a rip off when it has the exact innards of the iPad Air but in a smaller package? For an apple product I think it's a steal.

I think it's too high. More so because competition is heating up and apple has locked in these higher prices.

Did they mention if its the same thickness as the original mini?

It fills in the space between the iPad Full and the iPad Cheap. It's a Pocket Rocket.
64 Bit, A7. Imagine you can save 100 dollars and get a more portable device. Win Win. :)

Too expensive IMO.

Too expensive? Find me another tablet with the quality and effective OS of this device at the same price point.

It is well priced. If you can't afford $500 for a tablet that pretty much doubles as a laptop you shouldn't be purchasing one at all.

iPad mini with Retina display now weighs more, at 0.73lbs. Makes it a harder choice to choose between mini or full.

I think most people who think its overpriced need to consider that it will NOT run last gen hardware. the current mini is running ipad2 gen hardware, and the new mini will have the exact same hardware as the ipad air so its NOT just a retina display. I think we all have come to expect too much. who doesn't want all the bells and whistles and pay next to nothing? if it will run ipad 3 or ipad 4 specs, then I would agree that it's overpriced just for the retina.
