Overpriced and the competition will be getting my money once again. I waited all this time for a 5c then I saw the price which following day I bought a Nokia Lumia 925, now the iPad mini which will have Google getting my money.

that was a dumb move to put it at 399 with the only justification being retina...and only dropping price of regular mini 30 bucks was dumb should have dropped it more, you can already get it for 299 at target most weekends

you're forgetting that the new mini also has the same processor as the Air. and if they both have comparable RAM then this essentially eliminates concerns that new buyers have about how future-proof their mini will be. people only have to decide whether they want the lighter weight and smaller form factor that the mini offers. mini owners won't have to sacrifice anything anymore.

i think apple was very smart in their decisions. by keeping the gen1 mini at $299 (refurbs @ $250), they still keep a presence for the budget minded buyers.

you have to keep in mind that what is best for apple's bottom line may not necesarily align with a buyer's POV. hence, the reason why they're still continuing to sell the [dated] ipad2 rather than a marked down ipad3 or 4 as their lower end offering.

Extremely well priced and I can't imagine anyone opting now for the lesser non-retina model.

Let me start off by saying that I'm not trying to "troll" but just stating the facts. I'm buying the iPad Air and own many Apple products. Simply stating my opinion.

Well priced? Yes, it has a 64-bit processor, i'll give you that. But, the Nexus 7 is nearly half the price with a better screen with more quality. (Yes, it's .9" bigger but I pretty sure it isn't worth an extra $200.) Yes, the app ecosystem is better, but again, is it really worth that extra $200?

Honestly, I thought Apple planned Retina with the $329 price point in mind (I thought that was expensive until I thought of this.) IMO, $329 is the sweet spot for the iPad Mini. You pay a little more for the ecosystem, the bigger screen and the overall experience. But an extra $70 for Retina is way too much.

Also, I feel that regular consumers will opt for the last generation iPad Mini as they often ask "It does basically the same thing right?" I don't think they will drop another $100 for a better screen and processor especially when they compare it with the Nexus 7 and other competitors (which they will, they aren't biased as we are.)

Couldn't have said it better myself, only 2 things missing though, Apple should have started that $399 with 32gb. To go from 16gb to 32gb costs apple roughly 9$, and they're charging a 100$ upgrade fee...Either it should have started at 32gb because at this point 16gb is really lacking for todays technology and SSDs are dropping in price, 32gb should be the standard by now. Or they should have only had a 49$ upgrade or so like google and amazon do. 399$ for 16 gb, okay but then have 32gb at 449 or less.

The 5c was 99 dollars with a 2 year contract. How cheap did you want it to be?

Yeah. And out of contract pricing is $549. Not cheap at all. Although since this is Apple, I never expected they'd go for cheap. What would be the point of the iPod Touch if you can get an unlocked iPhone for the same price?

I think the Mini is priced just fine. It fits right in the middle of my iPhone 5 and MBA. I will use this for "on the run" stuff like light music production and farting around at work. Stuff where a 4" screen doesn't cut it. If I am at home, it's just more comfortable to have my MBA in my lap.

Some are upset about the camera specs. Who doesn't already have their phone (camera) with them at all times anyway? I know it's the principle thing, but a deal breaker? I guess the fingerprint scanner would be nice, but for me not necessary. Next update will have it.

16gb baseline memory is what most people will buy anyway. That is Apples bread and butter. Until people quit buying it, they will continue to make it.

I am already heavily invested in iOS and osX, and to me it's not too expensive. I seem to be the target buyer for Apple with this device.

The price doesn't bother me because I think the comparison should be to the iPad Air, not to other small tablets. The Dell Venue 8 Pro is a solid device, but Windows 8 is still too lacking in apps, and I continue to think that Android is just a terrible OS. The choice is between two iPads that are identical but for the screen size. I want something I can travel with and use on the subway, so a 10-inch screen is just too large for my purposes. Bigger is not better in this case. I'll be buying the mini with retina.
