I might, but again, one of the things I do the most is download tons of stuff from dodgy sources (I do this soooo much on my iphone) and I can't think of anyway id be able to do that on a full windows tablet. If it wasn't for that id probably buy it.

If you deal with dodgy sources, you need an OS that gives you full control. Then you can install browser plugins that inspect the page for potential dodgy stuff like tracking cookies, etc. You can view page source, if you want. You can control firewall, close ports that can be used to exploit your device, and so on. And all that spells Windows 8.1, full version (not RT). I didn't look, but maybe, Android allows some of that control, too, but Windows - no question.

With iOS? You don't know what's going on under the hood when you're visiting dodgy places. You're simply singing a comforting lullaby to yourself that everything is gonna be alright. Think about it: by visiting a certain site, you can jailbreak your iPhone. Essentially, that site completely knocks out the security of iOS. So you can continue to convince yourself that iOS is 100% bulletproof, but you'd be amazed if you actually saw what these dodgy sites can do under the hood.

I never really thought about it like that, nor have I heard anyone mention it like that. You make a point with the jailbreaking thing though.

But I still feel safe, you never hear of any problems with malware on ios, and when you do it's very isolated.

I guess what you state is technically possible but is it even likely at all? With windows 8.1 because of the popularity and open system it's far more likely to catch something.

I bought the retina mini, then went with the Air, and now I'm back on the mini.

Everything on the Air looks too blown up after having the mini.

The Mini is so comfortable and portable. Great for movies, and it's the best for reading books; it's almost like having a paperback.

Throw in the fact that it fits inside my inner coat pocket, and it just cannot be beat!!!

So you don't see any big negatives about watching movies on the mini vs air?

Not at all. I travel a lot for work and am on a round-trip flight about once every 2 weeks. I load it up with shows and movies, and it's great. Perfect size, as far as I'm concerned. When I had the Air, I felt it was just a bit too big, and was self-conscious about the people next to me watching what I was watching.

The Mini, to me, is more comfortable. I wouldn't change it for anything.

The color gamut bothered me alot when I was looking at the minis at the apple store.

It's only a store-induced OCD: you see mini and Air side-by-side, and because they're so similar in design, you can't but notice that one is a bit duller. In real usage, you don't even think about this. I have in my possession like 7 or 8 screens, and doesn't even cross my mind to compare them side by side, or think about mini's gamut. I simply use them and enjoy them, they all have great screens.

Maybe so, but I think as others said the air is probably better for me as I don't have a laptop and stuff but I dunno.

Jist get a keyboard for it. Use that to type with mostly.

Cause ive been using the air for the past couple days with lots of typing and can feel my hands and wrists tensing up a bit.

Never had this happen with the mini for the year ive had it.

I'm going to try to get back to the apple store before Christmas and probably purchase an ipad than. I'm 99 percent sure ill go with the air and maybe a keyboard case but it would be good to look one last time to make sure.

I'm getting LTE either way and in some ways I feel that the mini would be better for that but then again the air isn't so big that it can't be carried in a vehicle or even in a building/ restaurant etc.
