So, just stumbled across this pic on Twitter:

Scratches on iPad mini

Since the iPad mini's back plate is also made of anodized aluminium, could this mean that it'll suffer from the same scuffing/scratching-problems like the iPhone 5?

Probably. But so does my car, my shoes, my laptop, my phone, my keys, jewellery, watches, my wallet is well worn, hell my credit and debit cards are worn.

Everything scratches. That's why they make cases, aftermarket or not.

coming scratched and getting scratched are way different. As long as the QC was good, hopefully they won't come scratched.

My black iPad mini is flawless out of the box, no scratches that I can see

Stumbled?

Are people just waiting for issues?

I knew it, I just knew it.
I told ya that boy was trouble from the moment I layed my eyes on him.

by next friday we should have 4-5 threads here on the multiple returns many have HAD to make to get a good one...never fails at every launch....

Mine looked just like that when mine arrived this morning, but it ended up just being excess glue residue, and it wiped off with a little effort.

So does the black iPad mini look better in person than it did in the pics? Not that it looked bad in pics, just looked very matte black.

That is good to hear. How are you liking the new mini?

As long as I don't use it side-by-side with my iPhone 5, it's great ;) I find the colours a little de-saturated in comparison to my iPhone 5 (not to mention the obvious pixel density difference, of course).

Besides that, it's great. Being my first iPad, I was a bit surprised to see there is no native YouTube application yet (the web one is fine, but not as good). All-in-all, a good device. I'll play with it more after work. So far so good. The screen isn't as much of an issue as people make it out to be. Of course higher resolution is nicer, without a question, but, this is definitely serviceable.

Comparing this to my Nexus 7, I would probably have this any day of the week, if not primarily due to the application selection as far as tablet-oriented apps went.

I think people will enjoy this device. It's solidly built, and looks and feels great.

marks on the back

I bought one this morning. I has flecks of silver missing. Tiny, but still not the quality I expect from Apple.

Mine has what looks like a couple of rub marks in the middle of the back. I haven't tried to figure out if its adhesive or not. It will have far more on it shortly, so not worried about it either way.

The black is awesome! I was thinking white because the bezel shines but I figured that would be a distraction

I'm convinced responses like this are Apple's people :p

went through 2

it was on my 3rd that did not have "cosmetic" problems

they handled it at the store so no BIG deal but also had a "loose" battery with my 1st ip5

this is why i don't mail order these products BUT......I like the ipad mini and think it is the best ipad IMO.
