iPad mini very slow/sluggish

I have a first generation ipad mini running ios 8.1.2. It is so slow that it drives me nuts. loading times and screen scrolling are very sluggish. it is jailbroken but has been like this prior to the jailbreak. I even restored it and reinstalled ios 8.1.2 a while back to no end. The first pic is of me scrolling, you can see how the bottom of the screen takes longer to load. the second pic is me opening an app, it takes at least 7-10 seconds to open.

It's a first gen iPad mini.
There is nothing much to do to help that poor thing 🙁
