iPad mini volume issue

    My granddaughter has an iPad mini 2.7
    The sound works fine with a movie and the sound effects. But, there is no sound from her games like temple run. I've checked all of the obvious. There is sound from the headphone jack, though on games. Any help appreciated.

    Has she tried turning up the volume using the side buttons while in the game itself?

    Yes, the bar goes all the way up and says volume.

    Settings, Sounds, change with buttons, is it on or off?

    It was on, turned it off and it still doesn't work. Funny that with the switch off, the volume indicator still moves up and down..?
