Apple needs to put the A16 with at least 6GB of RAM on the mini. I don't think the mini will ever have the M1 or M2 inside it, but hope I'm wrong.
Could be related to button size. Touch Id works every time on my Air 5I’d say get neither because Touch ID sux. I’ve been using Mini since launch Touch ID is hit or miss. I registered two fingers but I mostly unlock with same fingers. I can’t seem to get the mini unlock with the other finger. It’s for landscape orientation where I use my left hand to unlock but it seems Apple is using some kind of machine learning. Even my main finger it sometimes does not want to unlock, I blame it on small surface area of Touch ID. I really miss Face ID from my iPhone.
A 60hz screen is impossible to stomach? That's kinda a stretch....I just bought a Mini 6 because the design and form factor is killer and I love the size. However, I’m seriously considering ditching it, the 60hz screen is almost impossible to stomach next to my 13 Pro and 2018 iPad Pro, both of which have ProMotion. Truly it’s Achilles heel.
Same here on my Mini 5 and other iPads. Works every time. Instantly.Could be related to button size. Touch Id works every time on my Air 5
Looks like comments start from some old article 2 years ago.Chip is an A17 Pro. Reports claim it has 8 GB of RAM.
Definitely. It’s always so confusing especially reading outdated comments talking about the old original article. We need some kind of warning when threads come back from the dead.
The M1 is a downgrade from the A17, however. So the faster CPU is in iPad mini.So for $100 more you get a larger screen, M1 and double the RAM(8GB vs 4GB) with the iPad Air but lose portability.
The only reason to choose the Mini is for portability. If not the iPad Air is the way to go. The $100 price difference is worth it just for the M1 alone.
They really need to stop doing this and just post a new article instead of editing a 2 year old article. It just leads to a lot of confusion. We need some kind of warning when threads come back from the dead.
