:D I finally made up my mind about which iPad i wanted to return. In the end the rMini went back home to the Apple Store. I liked the lighter weight but the Air is a better device for my needs and outside of the house I dont notice the weight differences at all. In fact, I would regularly hold the iPad mini with two hands right up to my face reading text and stuff. Plus the Air is so immersive it makes me not want to use my computer at all.

For sure, you will not be alone......I'm returning mine before jan.7

Damn you, some of us are still waiting for our rMini to arrive from Apple.com.
If you're return mini's had 'good' screens you should have sold them on here, could have pocketed a fortune.

Ordered mine on release date, its finally in AK

I only use my Retina Mini at home too. It's much easier to use with one hand. If you like to multitask. Both are great units but I much prefer the Mini.

Yea the mini is such a joy to use even when you're just using it at home, bringing around the house doesn't feel as clumsy. Furthermore I can't really justify that additional $100 when I use my MacBook Air more. I'll most probably be sticking to the air.

I'm at the library now and I see this other girl using the iPad air for studying and that screen size is really tempting though.

Some people want the full experience like me. Some people don't. Everyone is happy!

Went with the Air too

My wife is giving up her 2011 MB Air to get an ipad Air. We have a Mac mini she can use as a base set up in the kitchen - bar counter area for a base station. I am going to keep my 13 rMBP. I am going with an Air because I do not commute on a train and live in a hot climate so I don't have a coat pocket to stash a mini in and I bring a back pack to work everyday anyway. The twins (age 5) will be getting retina minis mostly because they are cheaper. I was fortunate to be able trade my wife and my gen 1 iPads to Target for $200 each. I thought my rMBP was light and portable but I am loving the Air. Thanks to home share I won't be needing more than 32 GB for music. I will probably pick up a iPod Classic from B&H for music storage and portability in the car and even when traveling.

All these decisions have taken hours to make due to my OCD (not really). That being said I struggled with not getting a mini retina and the color gamut was the last straw when I went back and forth about size. If I could tell a difference between 264 pip and 326 the decision would be tougher.

It's a relief to have it figured out. I hope I can take advantage of the Target Black Friday promos. Last my thoughts and prayers to the people in the Philippines as I struggle with my first world luxury problems.

I've reached the same conclusion. To read certain websites and PDFs, I found myself holding my mini almost as close as I do my phone. Not going to fly. I do like that it's easier to handle than the Air, but it's not as if the Air is a brick. For portability, I have my phone so that's a non-issue.

Nail on the head. 24 hours with the rMini and I reached the same conclusion. Text was just too small.

I have to agree , picked up an air and my wife got her Rmini yesterday. Coming from an iPad 4 to this air is a big difference! The air feels like a mini on steroids! Love it ! Her Rmini is nice for her to toss in her bag. I was thinking about getting a Rmini for myself but just gonna stay with this new air .. You guys are talking about extended returns till jan 7 , her receipt says 2 weeks from today????? Am I missing something??

It's a shame that with such nice iPads there seems to be a shortage of dictionary apps...
With all those devices and with all that money there is still a shortage of brain cells...

News flash! If google fails they have an app too. Dont correct me about the meaning of a word you dont know the meaning of. So iPads don't engage you wholly or deeply. That is clearly your opinion. Other people have different opinions. It has nothing to do with not knowing the meaning of the word. You just want to force your opinions onto other people who disagree with you by claiming they are ignorant of the meaning. Girl, have a seat. Don't reply to me with such non-sense again.

Returned mine as well, exchanged it for an Air. Weight difference is just not big enough anymore and the screen of the Air is much better.

I've discovered he's a pretty big troll. He picks one definition out of the 30,000 that wouldn't apply and tries to throw it in your face. This guy...

Same here returned the retina mini for the air, couldn't be happier!

I thought we had established you were going to immerse yourself in your 9.7" screen and I was going to disagree with you. Why the sensitivity?

Riiiight. Because I disagree with you or someone else I'm a troll.

You really need that dictionary app. And while you are at it, Google "pot kettle black".

Yes sir! (or maam). Whatever you say!

(Would this be a bad time to ask you to look up the word "nonsense" in your dictionary app?)

As an outsider looking in...you are, in fact, a troll. Anyone who uses  at the end of every post is an enormous, douchetastic troll. Just sayin'...
