I love the nano-texture on my MBP. I find it makes it even better for watching stuff because it significantly cuts glare and reflections.

If you go the nano route, I recommend buying the polishing cloth they sell separately. It's bigger and does a better job than the one in the box.

Cool thank you! Is there any difference in the actual cloth (other than size)? Thanks!

The one I bought at the Apple store is not bigger, it's smaller, but it's thicker. Sometimes it works better indeed, depending on the smudge

Yeah Apple Care+ doesn't cover scratches, so people online recommend you purposely break the iPad to have it replaced for around 10% of the price. Technically hat's called insurance fraud. But there is no way to prove it. I personally don't judge, but I wouldn't be capable of doing it. Not just because of ethics (I am not always an example, I download movies via torrents and use adblockers) but I woudn't be capable of breaking/dropping a working device. But many people, including some Apple employees see no issues...
It is indeed insurance fraud. And public willingness to engage in this sort of thing drives up the cost of products such as Apple Care+. I can't imagine doing this and am disappointed that Apple employees would have suggested it.

Interesting discussion: particularly the different hardness ratings of the regular display vs. the nano-texture upgrade – I had no idea there was a difference!

I bought an M4 without nano glass, but did get the cellular in case it was useful at some point. I've not yet added a data plan, so if you have any updates on good UK plans I'd be interested to read 🙂
Sounds naff but isn’t - 1pmobile. £10/50GB seems the sweet spot. Rolling monthly eSIM.

Uses EE so was getting 5g @720mbps vs Three’s 4g @80mbps. YMMV ofc.
Also shout out to the (free) DataWidget app for keeping an eye on usage.

Thanks, that’s really helpful! I will check it out.
The data usage app sounds good too.

You haven't had nanotexture for your entire life up to this point and you've been more than fine. Wouldn't make that the deciding factor.

Among those three devices you've listed, in my opinion the biggest difference is the contrast level. OLED displays have amazing contrast because blacks are pure black and not washed out. That's the sole reason why it's hard for me to go from an OLED screen back to a non-OLED screen. But, if this sort of thing isn't super noticeable for you, then you can't go wrong with either MBA or iPAd Air.
