iPad new tabs?

[Hey!]

Is it just me or does anyone feels that it's quite irritating that whenever you open a new tab, it straights away open up search bar, anyway to disable that automatic action? Also, anyone has tabs that doesn't load? For example, you are surfing macrumous when suddenly a poster posts a link and you decide to click it, but it just opens up a new tab, with the link as the header but nothing on address bar?

I find it more bothersome that there's no way to close the final tab. When I only have one page open, why is it wasting that space showing me the single tab?
