I'm trying to sync a bunch of photos to my iPad, and when I do that it doesn't actually sync any over, even though it says it did. At first I thought it was just iPhoto doing that, so I copied all 1.77GB of the photos to a folder and synced it that way. However, they still don't show up even though it says the sync was complete. Also, when I try to sync another album it syncs all the photos but not the videos, even though "Sync videos" is checked. Why is this happening? To better explain it I attached a screenshot.

You don't have enough free space. Yes, I know it shows 2GB free and you are only trying to sync 1.77GB. But, unfortunately, that's how it works sometimes. The same thing happens with my iPhone.

If you pull enough photos out of the folder to get it down to about 1.5GB or so, I bet it will sync.

(This is why a 16GB iPad is too small, by the way.)

I turned off photo sync because I wanted to save space on my 16gig device. I'll try turning it on for one iPhoto event and see if it works. I can't turn it on for all of iPhoto because I have over 70 gig of stuff and of course it won't fit.

Thanks, that worked. Only problem now is, the videos still aren't syncing, even though the sync videos option is checked. Why is that? They're in .3gp format, if it matters.

Aperture 3 not syncing well either

I have the 64GB iPad with plenty of free room, so that is not the problem. I selected some Aperture albums in iTunes Photos tab and hit sync. It did it's thing, but some albums only transferred one image, and some albums did not transfer at all.

I will have to do some further investigating to see if I can find what may be causing it. Will post back.

I am having the same problems. I also have a 64GB iPad, and my photos won't sync and neither will my album artwork. I've tried everything, and it is becoming increasingly infuriating. Help!

I decided to sync my iPad with my work Mac, and everything works now. Not sure what the deal was, but whatever. It works now.

I'm raising this from the dead.

I have the exact same problem. Syncing w/ videos option on my Macbook doesn't seem to do any good. I have enough free space.

Any ideas?

iPad, on iOS 4.2.1; Snow Leopard (latest public update - 10.6.5 i think..?)

What's the format of the videos?

And just in case, how much free space do you actually have and how much space are the videos trying to take up?

New ipad, no photo sync

My brand new ipad is not syncing pictures either.

I created a folder with all the pictures I want to sync. There is nothing else yet on the ipad. Selected the folder in itunes and clicked Sync. It then went through all the 174 pictures and optimized them, synced and then...nothing on the ipad. I tried it a few times but nothing.

I am using a PC BTW but I assume this makes no difference?

For Aperture users, look here at the Apple Support forum.

For others, a couple of possibilities (I had a similar issue recently and these steps helped):

- First, at least on the Mac, in your Pictures folder there is a folder called "iPod Photo Cache" - delete it.

- Second, again on a Mac, hold down Control-Option when opending iPhoto and tell it to rebuild the database.

Then try syncing again.

On the PC, I would image similar keystrokes and directories exist and would provide a similar outcome.

I'm having the issue with my iPad and iPhone. An event folder when viewed on either device shows only a fraction of the pics in that event. My iPhoto has all the photos though. From iTunes, when viewing the Photos tab (selecting my iPad/iPhone) shows the incorrect total number of pics in the album. No idea what's going on. It's not a storage issue as I have plenty and am not syncing videos. Also, I've made no changes to my pics or anything, this just happened out of nowhere as far as i can tell.

Same problem here. If I remember correctly, it happened with the latest update to iPhoto. I believe this is being discussed in the Apple forums. It is my understanding that Apple is aware of the problem and working on the fix.

How to get videos to work

I just struggled with this and have found a solution. All videos transferred need to be in .m4v format. If you import your movies into iTunes (granted they're in a format that can be imported into iTunes) and pull down the Advanced menu, then the program will make a duplicate copy compatible with your iPod, iPad, or iPhone.

I found however, that the quality was not to my liking. Making a .m4v from a .mp4 or a .mov = not so hot quality. What I did as an alternative was download the program Handbrake, selected the original video I had with full quality (on my computer it's in .dv format) and had the program make me a .m4v version of the video which I then put into iTunes and synced to my iPad. The quality is soooo much better, especially if you use your iPad in conjunction with Apple TV.

Same problem

I have 32GB free on my iPad, and when I try to sync my entire iPhoto library (22GB), I get about 0.87 GB showing up in the "thermometer" summary. If I sync 9 photos or 50 from other folders, it works fine, but when I go for the entire library, or even part of it, I get much less than that actually synced.

I have rebuilt the iPhoto library with no improvement.

Hey guys, am having the same problem. When I try to sync photos in Aperture via iTunes to iPad, it does not sync all of them, and some events show zero photos in iTunes.

Any help ? I have tried it on iPad mini,iPad 2,iPhone 4,4S and 5-same results :(

EDIT : UPDATING PREVIEWS solved it :D
