iPad or iPhone apps on MacBook Air?

Maybe it is an ignorant question but there it goes, can I use applications made for ipad or iphone on a macbook air?
I'would like to use The Photographer's Guide to Yosemite by Michael Frye

No, apps made for iPads and iPhones are made for iOS, the Operating System for those i-devices.
Macs like the MacBook Air run Mac OS X or OS X, which is an entirely different Operating System.
