So This guy is saying when the 2nd generation Apple Pencil is Parked in the Center of iPad Pro 2018 (the slot given for parking the Apple Pencil) for Longer Periods eventually it is scuffing of the Aluminium Coating on the iPad Pro 2018. He says this is because of the Lighter Anodized Coat of Space Gray that Apple is using this time as it was the case in iPhone 5. How many of you guys are facing this issue and see this is a threatening issue ?

I don’t think this is an even bigger issue than the bending issue. Sure, it’s an annoyance but it won’t turn the iPad into a rotatable dining plate.

This is barely even an issue.

I guess it's a problem if you're someone who obsesses over every little scuff and ding on your devices (and yes I know this site has an over representation of those people) for everyone else, it's just the natural wear and tear of owning and using a device. It's not something that's going to affect functionality so for most not really an 'issue', just a point to be aware of if you like to keep your stuff looking mint.

I have just been careful attaching it to my iPad. I’m also still trying to see if there’s another way to charge the bloody thing. It isn’t only about the (possible) scuffing as much as it is that I want to be able to use my iPad in the orientation I like (but the pencil charging gets in the way.)

If it bothers you, put a piece of tape on the side of the iPad so the pencil won't rub the metal.

Like Chabig said, put a small piece of clear tape on it and move on.

You guys keep saying Clear Tape, as in Like this ?

And how does it help ?

But if I apply a Tape there the Hollow slot which is in the Center of the iPad Pro when held Horizontal that will get blocked isnt it ?

Just put a small piece of clear tape right where the pencil is abrading the finish. It will allow charging and stop additional abuse to the finish. Might have to replace the tape every six months or so.

Are you doing it ?

No. I have bought two Apple pencils and both seem to not work after non-use for any period of time. I did buy the "Crayon" for occasional use with my 11" because it has an off and on button.

I did use this scotch tape trick on a iPad between the iPad and magnet on the cover as some were experiencing scuffing with that and it worked well. I did have to replace ever 6 months or so.

?? I thought Crayon is not compatible with the 11" Pro.

The only compatible models listed are the 6th gen 9.7" iPad, the 2019 10.5" Air 3 and the 2019 mini.

If that is so, someone needs to tell my 11" iPad Pro. It does not do the pressure sensitive thing but still get what I need, done. I will not buy another Apple pencil as I just do not need often.

Interesting. Apple specifically does not list any of the Pros as being compatible. Furthermore, if you order the 2018 Pro, Crayon is never offered as an accessory. Only Pencil 2 is offered.

At first, Apple only listed the 2018 iPad 6th gen as compatible with Crayon. Then when the 11" Pro came out, that compatibility list did not change. Then when the 10.5" Air and new mini came out in 2019, they updated the compatibility list to include those, but still left out the 2018 Pros.

If there is not already a thread on this, I think you should start one. I think a lot of people would be interested to know they can use the very inexpensive Crayon with their 2018 Pros. Not everyone needs pressure sensitivity.

It was added recently when iOS 12.2 was released -

Yes, I just noticed that.

https://www.cnet.com/news/logitech-crayon-now-works-with-more-ipads-thanks-to-ios-12-2/

So, that was as of just two weeks ago. However, does that include the 2017 iPad Pros?

EDIT:

It looks like no, the 2017 iPad Pros are not supported by Crayon, even with iOS 12.2.
