What I'm saying is that Apple will still have the 16GB iPad 1 (both flavors) for $100 cheaper than the base level iPad 2. It will cost ATT, for example, less to buy the iPad 1 form Apple than it does the base iPad2 much in the same way that I doubt ATT is paying the same for their 3GSes as their 4s.
Ah, OK. I thought the OP was asking if the v2 iPad would be cheaper.

I know that it's not really fair to compare the iPhone to the iPad (apples n oranges), but the iPhone got a price drop cut in half when the newer product comes to market.
It also had its capacity (16GB) cut in half!

Hey, everybody wants a bargain, but enough of this baseless speculation. Aside from the anomalous - and distinguishable - iPhone 3GS, there are no previous-generation anythings being sold by Apple at a discount.

If you want a bargain 1st-generation iPad there will be plenty on the resale market and refurbs. There will be none in retail channels. Not discounted, not subsidized.

$399 for the 16 wifi if anything. More than likely they just sell the new ones only... better margin more than likely
