I've been going back and forth deciding between the black or white bezel on the iPad Pro 10.5. After searching the web, I have not found anything compelling one way or another.

I have a white iPad (one of the originals) that has been fine- except that it took its final breaths some time ago- time to go for a new one. I never noticed the white as being a distraction, but I do find that whenever I pull up photos on my iPhone, I always prefer viewing them with the black surrounding them. Also, I have noticed that a number of other tablets used primarily for reading (like my Kindle) has a black bezel, and I wonder if this was done for ease of reading. Lastly, of course, most (all?) tv's have black bezels- as have the desktops and laptops I have owned or used.

So why is Apple selling three of the four 10.5 iPad Pro's with white bezels rather than black ones? I love the gold and silver iPad colors but decided to go with the Space Gray because it has a black bezel.

Any thoughts or opinions regarding the black vs. white bezel?
[doublepost=1498992035][/doublepost]Not trying to "beat a dead horse" with this topic, but I am interested in knowing the opinions of others now that the bezels for the iPad Pro are smaller. :)

The only thing that annoys me with the white bezels are the black line between the screen and the white bezel. This annoys me mostly on iPhones and smaller iPads. On the larger 12.9 it's not that big of a deal.

This black line appears on almost all phone makers that makes white fronts. Sony however, has made the line very thin on their Xperia Z5 serie. I guess there are some technical explanation as to why it has to be there.

I think the white iPads and iPhones is much more versatile when it comes to accessories - I fint more colors match the white front.

I have a first-gen 12.9" iPad Pro. I went with silver (white bezel) without giving thought to the bezel - I just felt silver was more classically "Apple." I opened the box and realized... "Oh, white bezel." It wasn't important enough for me to want to return it in favor of space gray, but when I get my new iPhone, if it has a bezel at all, it'll be black, no matter what color the case may have to be. Most of the time, I don't mind the white bezel, but I prefer edge-to-edge black when the screen is dark, and there are times white is a minor distraction.

I had a black iPad 1, and then bought the silver Air1. I still see the bezel, it annoys me. It's a personal choice for sure, I can't give you more than the word annoy regarding it. All the other devices we own have black bezels.

The 12.9 on order will be Space gray again.

[doublepost=1498997993][/doublepost]In art school, We were told that optically, having a black border visually intensifies the colour it surrounds while a white border has the opposite effect. Having said that, I only buy silver apple products with a white bezel. White also hides fingerprints better than shiny black surfaces do.

I would always go with the black bezel. I would prefer one in gold with a black bezel.

I feel the white surface works better for me and is less distracting. Purely personal preference is all there is.

I usually go with white but when I saw the 10.5 in the Apple Store, the black bezels on the space gray really made the screen pop so I went with that for a change.

Black. No distractions. White would show dirt. My iPad goes to our camp with me and gets used in a very rustic setting.

My last two tablet buys are white bezels, a change for me. I find I like them better for no other reason than I like the look (I have four older tablets with black bezels).

Black. I like to use the 12.9" + ASK and I think the black bezel looks best with the keyboard. Also, to me the white is eye catching, and not in a good way. But color choice is an individual thing :)

I could go either way. I always preferred the black bezel but wanted a change this time around so just got the white bezel on the pro and mini. I like how the white stands out, but it isn't distracting to me. I don't know which way I'll go with the next iPhone. I wish they offered offered more color back options with the black bezel though.

The majority of my time on the iPad is with a white background (web browsing, email and note taking) so I've always gone for white. To me it's easier on my eyes.
If your watching a lot of video black would probably be better as it hides those black bars better.

For me this is the interesting question. Any ideas? At least here the majority seems to prefer black bezels, but Apple seems to think that there is a larger market for white bezel, else they would not offer 3 different back colors with it. Has anybody insight?

For me, the 10.5 is the first iPad where I've felt black bezels are the only way to go because they're at a point where they almost (and sometimes do) disappear when I'm concentrating on the screen.

All iPads before this, for me, had bezels that were too big to attempt hiding.

The photos in this article first convinced me that black was the only way to go

and when I saw the space grey's box cover image, that cemented it

Agreed. Which is why I went silver on my 12.9 and space gray on my 10.5.
