Oh ok is this new to the iPad Pro 10.5 the 9.7 didn’t have this

That I couldn’t tell you. I don’t usually examine my lightning ports unless I’m having trouble charging my device, which is never. I use my device and enjoy it and don’t go looking for problems. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

I was cleaning it since something got stuck into it.

Maybe it's something to stabilize the Apple Pencil when it's hanging off the end.

Its just part of the port, I'd not look to mess with it, as apple designed the port a certain way.
