Still using my 10.5 IPP but have the 11” 256gb on order from Apple. Ship day is around the end of July. I almost went with a MBA but the camera and the soon to be outdated processor killed it.

My iPad Pro 10.5 was still as good as it was on Day 1, but a couple of months ago I purchased the iPad Pro 12.9....
don’t regret that for a second even though my 10.5 was amazing, the screen, look and feel is sooooo niece and worth the upgrade.

I am on my third iPad Pro 10.5 because of the white spot issue. Works great, just wish the display was a little more reliable.

How are you guys seeing your battery health? I thought the iPad didn’t have this?
I don’t need to see battery health to know that I’ve been needing to charge the iPad more frequently and get shorter onscreen time. Still far better battery life vs iPhone, though.

but people have been posting their percentages?

Honestly the only reason I haven’t snagged a new 11 inch is because I love my leather Smart Cover and think the iPad 11 case is garbage.

The Saddle Brown Smart Cover was love at first sight and—eventually—a big selling point for me. I still remember the first time I saw it at the Apple Store and discovered it was only available for the pro. Funny in hindsight how I tried for a few days to be content with the very affordable entry level iPad I had purchased that day.

After the redesigned pro models were released, I would regularly check to see if the cover was available. Honestly, I’m relieved that it was never offered and I that stayed put with the 10.5. It has a great screen, sounds really good, and the longer I own and love it, the better value my open box deal becomes.

Battery life is not what it used to be but still completely fine, especially if you’re not gaming or doing anything demanding away from the wall. It’s still plenty powerful enough for most things, and has served me well in my last 3 years of high school.

I’m thinking of upgrading to the next model for University (early 2021?) with an A14X chip. I’m also hoping for 8 gigs of RAM and/or ddr5. I’ll probably get a pencil and some kind of keyboard for it, even though I’m also planning on getting a new laptop (waiting to see what Apple silicon on Mac can do).

I have had a weird issue with sections (evenly spaced out lines) of the display on the 10.5 slightly flickering, but I haven’t noticed that issue in a few months. Not sure what that was caused by.

My 10.5” is still going fine, although I mostly use my 12.9” 2018 iPad Pro. The smaller 10.5” I mainly use for video conferencing (allowing me to reference my 12.9” while on video) and as a handy tablet to take notes.

At present I am using the 10.5” to trial iPadOS 14 Beta - not risking my main device.

I’d love to hear how all you iPad Pro 10.5” users are feeling about your iPad. Is it still serving you well? When do you plan to upgrade next/what will get you to upgrade?

Still plan to keep awhile, as long as it continues to work. I've been having some issues, but I think it may have been the case. Working the last couple days without a case. But I spent several hundred dollars last year on it since I had broke the screen.

Have been happy with mine and no plans to upgrade. Thought about moving to the 12.9 but it was just too big when I’m on the couch or in other location.

Function-wise it has been near perfect. Almost never experience a slow down, even doing complex artwork in ProCreate, curating photos in LightRoom, or multi-tab browsing. The only times to hit a brick wall are watching more than one videos, or opening heavy Photoshop files which are frankly not the job for this class of device.

Though I did get the white-spot issue fairly early on, probably less than a year into owning the device. Ignored it for months, almost towards the end of the 2-year AC coverage I took it to my local Store, got a refurb replacement in 2 days no questions asked. The new unit performs the same, with a new battery no less, but the white-spot issue also appear a few months in. This time I was already past the AppleCare coverage so I have to live with it.

Aside from that, the other bigger complaint is the Pencil 1 charging mechanism. I bought a "charging stand" which simply embeds the female-female dongle inside a wooden base, with a lightning cable attached so it acts like a dedicated stand for the Pencil charging upright. This is elegant, but I am not taking this outside so when on the road, the Pencil needs to be charged off the arse of the iPad Pro's lightning, which we all know is one of the biggest joke of "design" coming out of this company. Knowing the Pencil 2's mechanism exists only furthers the frustration.

I honestly would like to upgrade to the 11" 2020, probably also with the Magic KB/trackpad, but this 10.5" refuses to die, and its flaws are not critical enough for me to dump it or hand it over.

Yeah, this was a very annoying design decision. I got myself an Air 3 to alternate with the Pro 10.5 and so I can use the Logitech Crayon (which to me features a more eminently practical design) instead of replacing my dead AP1. During the work day, I use the Air 3 with Crayon for PDF markup and note taking. When I get home, I swap back to the Pro 10.5 for leisure stuff and charge the Air 3.

I feel very similarly. I would like to upgrade to a new 12.9 model. I’m excited about smaller bezels, the industrial design, a larger display, FaceID, the much improved charging mechanism of the 2nd generation Pencil, and the Magic Keyboard. But it’s just all such an undertaking. Around $1700 with taxes, give or take hundred, to upgrade to all of that, while my 10.5” with the Apple Pencil 1st-gen still run like day 1 besides iOS 13 bugs and reduced battery life. While the new features would be nice, I don’t think my daily usage would be affected that drastically for that amount of money to switch. I also would really like OLED (though it seems mini-led will have to suffice), but I’m also worried for what prices that next mini-led generation will bring.

Battery health is down to 86%, aside from that it works perfectly. I haven't decided whether to replace the battery sometime or to get an 11 inch model once there is a model with A14X available.

My 10.5 iPad Pro still works fine and I don't plan on replacing it until it no longer supports the latest iPadOS, in which case I'd probably just get the regular iPad and save a bunch of money.

White Spot on the screen is about my only issue but its been there so long I've stopped noticing it. Since lockdown its not used outside of the house much so depleted battery not really an issue. I use an ethernet adapter for Zwifting in the garden (outside of wifi range) and it sometimes complains that its drawing too much power even though its plugged into mains. Would like more storage but difficult to justify the upgrade cost.

Thinking about buying a used 10.5. Not much of an iPad user and the main uses will be watching videos and some light gaming on the sofa. Was looking at the 10.2 but I can get a used 10.5 64gb LTE for ~$350. Seems to be better in every way for roughly the same $. Also thinking about the 2018 11 but thats a decent bit more and not sure if I can justify the nearly doubling of the cost.

In almost 2 years of loving my iPad Pro 10.5, my battery is only down to 95%. The battery definitely holds it's age good... In comparison my MacBook 12 battery is at 94% and it's 4 years old...

Love this iPad. It’s amazing and a great value when purchased new the day it was released. I’ll use it until it stops getting updates.

This at least removes the need to bring a stand with you:
