The 2021 speakers are louder, a skosh more bass, and somehow the sound comes much more from the “front” rather than the edges.

It seems they are redirecting the sound forward somehow, better than they did on my 2018 model…

No, I’m handing it down. I tested both iPads side by side and the 2021 is definitely louder, more mids and lows and more “centered”.

I thought the 2021 sounded great too, but when I actually tested it next to my 2020 (handing it down to a family member), I realized that the 2020 model has much better bass and richer sound. Bummer.

So apparently it’s 2018 < 2021 < 2020 in terms of speakers…
