ive been noticing a lot of typing errors with my iPad. Obviously since the home button has been removed we can use it upside down, or right side up without trouble.

About 5 minutes ago, I realized that I’m constantly getting incomplete words in a sentence that I’ve typed. It’s not registering that I’ve pressed a certain letter sometimes, the letter will click when pressed but not display on the screen. This happens when I’m typing at a reasonable pace, and I can purposely recreate it every time.

I’m going to type a sentence with the iPad in portrait mode. And then I will type a sentence upside down in portrait mode. Watch the difference, it is terrible. This tells me, something is up with the touch on the screen somewhere. My iPad is in excellent condition, and the screen is clean, as are my hands too. I’m getting a lot of dropped letters usually when touching keys in the center of he keyboard. Letter T, H, Y that’s usually the onl ones.

Okay, here goes.

(1) upside down, portrait mode typing.

( Hello, I am typing on my iPad Pro while looking at its keyboard trying to demonstrate this problem I am having with touch.)

(2) right side up, portrait mode typing.

( Hello I am typing on m iPad Pro while looking at the keyboard tryin o demonstrate he problem I am having with touch.

End of example.

Ok, this has actually been happening for about a week, and I thought it was me just but, it’s not me at all. I can repeat this over and over without trouble at all.

Upside down portrait never fails, and I don’t experience these crazy typos.

What should I do? It is possible that it is just me, and all of this is a coincidence and I’m overthinking it. For some reason this seems to happen when I’m typing faster. And then I look up to double check what I’ve typed, and it is all just a jumbled mess.. it’s very frustrating.

I’ve looked at a lot of my threads, and posts, and it looks as if English is my second language lol with all of these typos. My iPad is horrible at typing.

There is most likely nothing to be accomplished on your end, this is a gyro issue with the device and should be addressed by apple.

Man that really sucks. If I type slow and take extra care I can avoid it. Actually scratch that lol, I’m correctin errors as I type this now. This is annoying, and possibly getting worse.

Ok so warranty it is then?
[doublepost=1548993537][/doublepost]Ok so I just confirmed, I can type with 1 finger and it is perfect, any hand, any position. But for some reason, right side up typing in portrait mode with both thumbs tapping away creates lots of dropped keys and typos.

Same situation here. Are you using a screen protector? I am and I have read these iPads are having some problems with screen protectors.

No screen protector is being used at all. What a shame too. If I want trouble free typing I’ve gotta hold it upside down in portrait mode. This really sucks.

It keeps dropping the letters; G, H, T, Y

I’m gonna put together a video about this issue using Adobe Rush CC. I’ve already recorded my screen, and you can clearly see the keyboard letters being pressed as they are lighting up, but they are not registering on the screen with the sentences that are being typed.

I will finish editing this clip tomorrow, very frustrating dealing with this..

Here’s a video of my problem. I just wanted to show everyone what I’m experiencing.

I've been suffering from this since I got the iPad pro 11". I've even posted on apple communities and this one guy said he went to the Apple store and tried a bunch, which all had the same issue. So I'm guessing this is a big hardware mishap that Apple is not even acknowledging, only because most people don't notice it.

I get the character skip only when I hold the ipad in portrait, with the usb pointing down. It’s totally fine if I flip the ipad and use it with the USB-C port pointing up, or in landscape mode. It’s also fine when I put the ipad down on a surface and type without holding it. So I’m thinking it’s something to do with the smart keyboard connectors, or something electrical/conductive.

That is exactly how my last one was, that’s why I made that video. I had to type in portrait mode upside down, with the camera bump near my hands.

Replace your unit ASAP.

I got a new one, and it is perfect. No typos, no typing errors, it is perfect all the time.

I'm worried that the "genius" won't get what the issue is, since it happens randomly (though it is very easy for me to replicate). Also, what if they open a new unit in front of me, and it has the same issue? They won't keep opening packages like they're groceries. -oo

Good to know they’re replacing them - May try and get mine replaced.

I have a new iPad Pro 11 with similar touchscreen issues that you demonstrate in your video. My touchscreen is intermittently unresponsive to tap and swipe. Also the characters on my touchscreen disappear... check this and more in my screenshot attachment:
