I have a 1st gen Ipad Pro 12.9" and wondered if its capable of fast charging? On apples site it lists all gens of ipad pros as able to fast charge using the different watt usb-c chargers.

I don’t think so. fast charging may need different batteries and different circuitry, all of which iPad Pro 1st gen May not have.

Fast charging works fine for me. I have the first gen 12.9 and have tested the charger from my 13” MBP as well as a third party USB-c charger.

Ok,good to hear. I had 2 different 18w usb-c Chargers. On my in-line meter it shows it’s charging 5V 2.0A at 12w. So I don’t if the generic charger is junk or the usb c to lightning cable is

the 1st gen 12.9 does support USB C power delivery, but not at any voltage. The mac charger will work but some other power delivery chargers do not work as they do not support the same voltages (contrary to what people may believe, power delivery can be implemented in different ways, some devices support all possible voltages, 9v, 12v, 15v, 19v, 20v, others only some of them, and if they don't match they revert to 5v)

I have tested a new cable today and in fact the iPad Pro 12.9 first gen is fast charging. The test meter shows 15volts, 2 amps at 25watts

Does this mean newer 30w USB-C adapter will also work the same as the older 29w above? I mean the same as it'll fast charge reliably and not kill the battery (in a 1st Gen 12.9 Pro)?
