Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

I tried to use my Apple Pencil 2 the other day with my iPad Pro 12.9 2018 but nothing. It’s been working fine for around a year. I assumed the pencil has died for some reason so I managed to get a replacement from Apple but that one won’t work either.

Nothing happens at all when I connect the Apple Pencil to the iPad with the magnet. Nothing appears in the Bluetooth menu or anything. I have tried resetting everything and even restored the iPad. I was using the iPadOS 14 beta and have also tried rolling back to iOS 13 but still doesn’t work.

The iPad works fine otherwise, bluetooth is working because my AirPods are fine, keyboard is working etc. The iPad has never left the house and is in excellent condition not dropped etc.

I‘m hoping it’s not an iPad hardware fault.

Thanks

Sounds like the Pencil is faulty. Try it with another iPad if possible. Is there an Apple store near you?

As I said in the original post Apple sent me a replacement pencil and that one didn’t work either.

Apologies - completely missed that. Then it does sound like an issue with the iPad itself, likely h/w as you've tried the radical s/w changes (restore) to resolve it.

Probably an issue with your iPad unfortunately. It seems very unlikely your Pencil would fail and then get sent a replacement that is also defective.

Did you purchase AppleCare with your iPad? 😟
