I got mine a week ago. It seems to have a laggy screen on an intermittent basis.

You press an icon to launch Safari (e.g.) and it takes 2 seconds before you see Safari jump up.

If you swipe across the home screens it scrolls sideways slowly and jerkily.

2 minutes later it is fast again, then slow.

No pattern, does the same in airplane mode (so cannot be a network issue).

Do I have a Friday iPad (in which case I just return and buy a new one) or is this a software issue which will be fixed?

I keep pressing the icon 4 times as it is so slow you think it missed the press.

Called Apple who just said to bring it to a store (nearest one is 60 miles away from me and I am busy).

Anyone else or is this just me?

That’s not normal. You may have a "badly behaved" app or two running. Try force-closing apps to see if that alleviates the problem.

Wi-Fi connection maybe too that causes this fluctuation. Take it to Apple store or just return it!

Thanks all.

I tried a reset and re-install as a virgin iPad rather than restore from a backup. Issue still here.

I think I agree that I return it sadly...

At least then I figure out if it is software or hardware when I setup a new one!
[doublepost=1542977475][/doublepost]Return started and a new one ordered. If I take to an Apple store they suggested they would replace with an alternative one. Having done this with a nearly new iPhone X before you swap your brand new boxed device for a factory refurbished one; perhaps given this is so new I actually get a new one from a sealed box but I prefer not to take the risk.

This one is just too irritating to deal with.

Re: a rogue app; good suggestion but unfortunately it does this laggy thing even when brand new with no non-native Apple apps installed.

I can confirm the screen is very responsive, especially scrolling.

I set mine up as new. I keep everything turned on in iCloud sync, so I don't need to restore from backups.

When you get your replacement, try it out for a while with just the stock apps for a while, and then add third party apps one at a time just in case...

Yes good advice thanks. I will have both for a little while so can go side-by-side....

I spoke too soon...

The new one is now doing the same thing. Press an icon, wait 2 seconds then the app pops up. Swipe between screens and it jumps across 80%, stops then does another 20% jump.

So the good news is that it must be a bad app or software problem and the hardware is fine; would be extremely unlucky to get 2 iPads both with the same hardware issue...

Bad news is I have no clue which app. I only have Blackberry Work, Skype for business and related apps loaded; no strange games or other junk....

On the last one I downloaded a CPU monitor app but it never showed above 3%.

Any troubleshooting ideas would be appreciated! I will try to get to a Genius Bar too.

Hi the problem is blackberry work .

When my co moved from Good to Work this started happening on my 10.5. Reset many times still happened .Same on my pro 11 and 12.9 now - it's a documented issue with the app (check 1 star comments on app store).

Only workaround is to swipe to close app each time .
