I recently picked up an M1 iPad Pro 12.9 and after several days. I‘m already questioning whether to keep it.
Namely for one reason: The battery.
Casual Safari and Twitter browsing for one hour went from 100% to 85%.
is this normal (for the Mini led M1 variety)?
I feel like my 5 year old 10.5 iPad Pro has about the same battery health (and that one has been put through the proverbial ringer).
I wanna love this long sought after device, but it just seems like it’s gonna die long before Apple’s stated battery depreciation levels.
Thoughts?
(oh and I don’t wanna turn off background refresh etc - sorta defeats the purpose).

I have been doing the forum and some news for about an hour and my M2 12.9 is at 97%. It does stay at 100% for a while before it starts to drop. Your 85% sound a bit obsessive.

Update: After watching several YouTube testers on battery life, I’ve concluded it’s normal. Apples claims are probably under such ideal circumstances, that it can state the 10 hour spec. Reality is different. But anyway, knowing others sort of have similar outcomes, I’ll probably keep it.
I should also point out my previous statement about the 10.5 having similar battery life was incorrect. I’m using it now and that battery depleted to 85% in a half hour Under casual usage.
I think my expectations were generally thinking of the 12.9 in terms of the MacBook battery performance (which I don’t own but have heard it’s pretty remarkable).
Anyway. Just wanted to clear up some details.
All good.

I know with new phones you have to let things running in the background settle for a week or so maybe the same with iPad?

I just watched 90 minutes on Netflix and the battery went from 94% to 86% -- doesn't seem bad to me for 1080P half brightness. What's your brightness setting?
