Picked up a new iPad Pro today from the Apple Store. The screen looked fine at first glance in the bright store, but at home, I instantly saw a pattern in the backlighting. I wasn't even looking for any flaws with the screen.

I don't know if this type of backlighting has a name yet, but I'd call it "curtains." Check the photos. Along the right edge it alternates from light to dark, like bunched up curtains.

Is this normal? Really stands out :(

Note: Photos taken with plastic from packaging still on the display. Seems like a good way to test what a matte screen protector could look like and how the Pencil feels on it.

Oooh, yeah, I'd take it back asap. Backlight looks defective.

Yep, did just that this morning.

Replacement looks great. I swear I have the worst luck with tech. This is the 5th tech purchase in a row where a item had to be replaced or returned.
