Anyone else experience how difficult it is for the iPad Pro 12.9 to stay up with up with support? I have an Apple Smart Cover and it does not hold well. I enjoy how thin it is, but it keeps unfold itself and my iPad quickly falls backward. It happens at least once every hour if standing on a table. Nothing has happened to it after all these backfalls, but my heart still jumps whenever it happens. I once tried the Apple Smart Keyboard but when I tucked the keyboard back the iPad would sit completely straight and about to fall forward. I had to return it.

What can I do? I also tried buying one of those back with front covers from eBay and even though it "looked" thin it felt extremely heavy and I struggled so much getting it off that I don’t ever wanna attach hard plastic on the aluminum again. It almost ruined my camera lense and had to use a knife to break the case and get the iPad safely out.

I got the 10.5" version of this case:

I like it so much that I prefer using it with a lightweight Bluetooth keyboard over the ASK I have (or the smart cover which I also have). It is as sturdy as a rock and it's even easy to type on the screen keyboard with it standing up. I particularly like the multiple viewing angels. It is easy to remove, too.

That sounds like an issue with the cover or how it’s being set up. I have a 9.7 Smart Cover and the ipad is pretty rock solid when I’m using it with the Smart Cover, as long as it’s on a flat surface. If it’s on my legs or something, it becomes unstable.

I haven't experienced that with my smart cover (on the 12.9 Pro), but I did notice something different with the way that the cover folds compared to smart covers of my older iPads.

When folding the first "segment" of the cover (when holding the iPad like a book, spine on the left, it is the right-most segment) to form that little triangle, I notice that the segment does not magnetically stick to the back of the iPad but the edge wedges itself against the hinge. There's a slight gap between the segment and the back of the iPad.

When I first noticed it, I tried pressing that segment against the back of the iPad... when I did that, the case unfolded and the iPad fell backward. I don't know if that's what is happening in what you are experiencing but it might be worth checking out. I hope this helps.

I also recommend the Zugu case. The stand part of the case is so sturdy that you cannot even push the iPad over if you try. The magnet is super strong, and you actually have to pull it apart to take it out of stand mode. On top of that, you get 8 different angles, and the case is not heavy or very thick either.

Mine falls over often too. For all its slimness, it’s still pretty heavy, and the Smart Cover is not particularly sturdy.

I also have a Surface Pro 4. It’s basically the same size as a 12.9” iPad, but a little thicker and heavier. It’s rock solid with the kickstand, and the angle can be easily adjusted.

Thank you for the suggestion, it does look very interesting and I like that it’s magnetic. But it looks very heavy and thick, I’m trying to keep it as light as I can so it doesn’t defeat the purpose of leaving the MacBook at home.
