Anyone see any brilliant prices for these? Debating which option is beat for my 76 year old mother in law....she wants something...she thinks she wants a lap top but she loves far away and I don't like the idea of her getting something new and having to figure it out. Her computer is in the basement...and she doesn't want to have to go down there to use it. She basically emails, and FaceTimes. So really she needs two apps;). Would you do a laptop? She has an iPad mini but can't type well on the screen. She knows how to use the iPad mini though. Was thinking a iPad Air 2 with keyboard or an iPad Pro 12.9 for a larger keyboard? Anyone have any opinions?

Since the issue seems typing, why don't you try a Bluetooth keyboard for the existing iPad first? Solves the text entry issue and there are plenty to chose from. No new iPad required.

Go with the Air 2 / Keyboard for her. Or better yet, Pro 9.7/Smart Keyboard since it is attached to the iPad so its kind of like an all-in-one.

Pro 12.9 will be a bit much for her.

Well screen size and keyboard size was a key factor in this one so she got the big iPad Pro and the Logitech Create keyboard/case. And Apple care plus bc she has issues with hand strength. I think it should last her a while though. She really barely knows how to email and is proficient at FaceTime. She also uses safari for buying airplane tickets and checking in. It should be able to do those three tasks efficiently for a while. ;)

On another note, I am secretly jealous of the size of that iPad. Maybe when they update it I will have to get one. I bought a 9.7 pro to replace my air this holiday season and got a great deal on it. Hopefully I can sell it for close to that amount when the time comes.
