The camera placement is ass…. The case I got and all the cases I’m seeing puts the camera at the bottom when using it horizontal which means it can’t see your face….

That…sounds like a problem with the case(s), not the iPad.

Screens have also become a lot more durable. Coupled with simply using the Magic Keyboard or a folio case when packing my iPad into a bag, mine's gone 3 years without a screen protector and without a single scratch.

Thanks for this. I’ve always used screen protectors but am on the fence this year. It seems many don’t bother with them. I mean, the Apple Pencil can’t scratch it can it? I think people put screen protectors on form the “write on paper” feel..

If you’re careful (I am) you should be ok, right?

Pencil tips are a soft-ish plastic; they are not going to scratch the glass of an iPad screen. I take lots of notes (and draw lots of doodles/etc.) on my iPad everyday and have never had any issues.

EDIT: I’ve had my M1 iPad since launch and the screen still looks great. No scratches, dings, etc. The only case I use is my Magic Keyboard; it is naked frequently when I am at home just using it as a tablet.

Having a hard time deciding 11" or 13". I have a 2019 iPad Pro 11" but wondering if ill like the 13" this time.

A larger screen will always look better than a smaller one but the question should be how the iPad fits into your workflow. If it’s complementary to your Mac then there’s little point getting the 13”. If it’s a major part of your work (eg if you are a digital artist for example) or you would prefer to use it as a full laptop replacement , then go for the larger size.

I think you’re right… so anyone who is right handed who turns the iPad a certain way just has to learn to turn it the other way..

The 11 M1 didn’t get miniLED; I am really surprised to hear you say that there’s no difference (from your perspective) other than brightness between the panel on your M1 11 and M4 13…I can tell a big difference even between my iPhone and my M1 11.

Always amuses me how some people honestly can't see the huge difference OLED makes, especially compared to a standard LCD backlight where the difference is massive.

Mine arrived a couple of hours ago with the keyboard and pencil and I could not be more happy. The screen is awesome and improvements to the keyboard are spectacular. Came with 90% charge on it and needed to be updated to 17.5. It did the update quicker than my 12.9 M2.

Yes, this - you would expect to see the delta. Do the same comparison with mini LED.

I just picked up my 13” M4 iPad Pro. I gave other models a try at the store, and let me tell you…these things are THIN! I was shocked when I saw the 11” and I can’t wait to open my 13”.
If I wasn’t using it for work as much as I am, I would definitely get the 11” with the Magic Keyboard (which also feels amazing, by the way. The aluminium palm rest is much nicer than plastic/rubber). It reminded me of my favorite portable setup which was the 11” Macbook Air around 2011-2012. Really great new iPads.

I had my sights set on the 11”, but am leaning towards the 13” now. Am I correct in assuming the MKB trackpad is quite a bit larger on the 13” model over the 11” model?

The screen will be completely fine from the Apple pencil. My M1 iPad Pro was a day-1 purchase, and when I traded it in today, its screen was completely scratch-free. Whenever I’ve travelled with it, it’s always been in a folio case or Magic Keyboard, and I think that’s enough, unless you know someone that will try to key it (like a toddler).

Geez. That shipping box looks awful. I would be nervous to see the condition of the retail box inside. Apple delivered mine via UPS, the iPad retail box was in shipping box. Surprised to see no padding or bubble wrap Or plastics. just a box and a box.

If it’s bad I’ll go to the store. They have my model on stock but refused to ship to store.

From the product pictures, roughly 4.4” x 2.6” vs. 3.9” x 2.0”.

Thinner means the edges will be sharper. The current 11 Pro isn’t pleasant to use without a case because of the sharp edges.

I caved and upgraded my 11" M1 256gb to the corresponding M4. Got the keyboard, case, and pencil. Traded in the M1 at Apple.

Definitely a want and not a need. The screen is noticeably better from my vantage point. Keyboard is also nice with the aluminum cover on the inside. Function keys are good too.

The pencil is, well, a pencil. I am not an artist, but I do use the pencil for annotating things, so I needed the pencil.

As far as weight and thinness, not really a large deal to me. I am a tech nerd and just wanted to get the update, so I did.

It looks that way when taking a photo of it
But definitely less warm when actually looking at it directly. It looks very similar to the M1 in normal light

Must be some property of the OLED when taking a photo I’m not sure
