Hello! I recently purchased the iPad Pro 2017 10.5 inch 64GB model for $674 from the Apple Store. I also received a pair of wireless beats X ($150) for free with this purchase.

I was browsing Craigslist and found a iPad Pro 2016 12.9 inch 128GB in brand new condition WITH the Apple pen and Smart Keyboard for $625. I am thinking about returning my purchase and opting for the latter.

I must say that the 120 hz display is phenomenal, but I'm wondering if I should still return it and go for the deal I found.

What would you guys go for? Any thoughts / opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Two different iPads.
You purchased the 10.5, and the craigslist model is 12.9.
Do you need the pencil and keyboard?
Do you want the larger form factor?

What would you guys go for?
If it was me, I'd keep the 10.5 because I like that form factor better.

I would enjoy the larger display and the pencil and keyboard would be nice. I'm a college student!

If you want the larger tablet then buy the craigslist one and return the 10.5 IPP.
I suppose I could wait and save up to buy a keyboard (I don't think the pen is a huge necessity for me), but I guess the business savvy part of me doesn't want to miss out on what I think is an awesome deal. :(

Then return it and get the 12.9

It seems like you’ve already made up your mind and just want people to reinforce what you already feel.

I think I will keep the 10.5. I don't think the value of the accessories and bigger screen are enough for me to want to have an older model iPad. Thanks for the help!

If this is your only computing device, then I say go for the larger iPad. When iOS 11 releases, you're going to want that extra screen real estate for split screen usage. When I use my 2017 12.9, the ability to have the bigger screen makes my work flow MUCH easier and comfortable.

I don't have a pencil yet, but I do use my 12.9 with the Logitech Slim Combo keyboard case. That's my 2 cents.

I have a 2012 MacBook Air running an upgraded i7 with 8gb of ram, and a great gaming desktop. I don't think I will be using the iPad to replace my MacBook, they serve a bit different functions for me.

Thank you so much for your thoughts, though! I appreciate it. :)

In that case, keep the 10.5. It's upgraded to the latest specs and the 2016 12.9 is still considered the first generation. And, you just never know with Craigslist...

I try not to respond to this type of threads. Value of anything is subjective and I don't really get what people try to understand from what others would have done.

I think this was the right decision--go for the updated guts. And the 10.5" is great. I do like those nice big 12.9" screens, but for me, they're way too heavy/bulky to be used comfortably as a holdable tablet.

I had a gen 1 12.9” IPP and got the new 10.5. After using Pro Motion and the faster processor on the 10.5 I immediately upgraded to the gen 2 12.9” IPP (so now I have both gen 2 iPads). Pro Motion makes the touch interface seem a LOT smoother and more fluid IMO. I would wait for a good deal on the gen 2 12.9”. They recently had them for $100 off at B&H Photo and Best Buy. If you can make do with 64GB on the 12.9 it’s only about $150 more than a 128GB gen 1 if you wait for a good deal.
