So before you suggest any fixes, please read everything we’ve done so far. Right now, both mine and my husband’s iPad Pros 2018 are not charging. Here’s the order of events and what we’ve done.

After my husband showed me that his charger wasn’t charging his iPad Pro, I went over to where my iPad Pro was charging and showed him that mine was working. My iPad Pro had the lightning bolt and everything while it was plugged in and it was at 100%. When I unplugged mine to plug his in to see if it was his charger that wasn’t working, his still didn’t charge. I then plugged mine back in and it now also did not charge!! I plugged my iPad Pro into both of our chargers and neither worked. Same for his iPad. Strange. Now both of our iPads weren’t charging.

I then plugged mine into my MacBook Pro’s charger and it worked. I plugged his into the MacBook Pro’s charger and it also worked but only on one side. Even though USB C can be charged on both sides, his only seemed to work on one side. That led me to think maybe something was stuck in his charger hole. We looked at it with a flashlight and there was nothing obstructing either iPad’s charging areas.

We’ve restarted both iPads and that doesn’t fix the issue. We both recently updated to iOS 12.2 a few days ago, but the issue didn’t start until last night for his iPad and a few hours ago for mine. We use the chargers and cables that came with each iPad and do not use third party chargers. They’re both in immaculate condition and have never been wet or dropped or anything like that. We don’t have them jail broken, we only use Apple’s ecosystem, applications and hardware.

We’ve tried googling solutions but almost everything just says to restart your iPad or suggests to not use third party chargers. We’re already doing everything we should be doing. Can anyone help us figure out what’s going on? These are fairly brand new iPads and now both are randomly not charging. Anything you can help with would be super appreciated. Thank you!

Weird issue. Since they're still within the warranty period, I would suggest to bring them to the Apple Store for a checkup. Not sure if there is anything wrong with your husband's iPad Pro charger that fried the USB port of his iPad Pro and probably yours?

Bring it to an Apple Store.

This won't answer your question, but my iPad Pro 11" will sometimes not charge while using the outlet in my bathroom. When I plug it into the dining room outlet it charges to 100% without a problem. The outlet in the bathroom works otherwise as well so I don't have any idea what the issue is.

My 2018 iPad Pro 11” is also a diva when it comes to chargers. Some that will charge a Nintendo Switch it will refuse to charge, other ghetto off brand USB-C charges it will also refuse. It only like Authentic Apple charger it came with and an Apple 30Watt Charger. Not only that but just any cable won’t work either. I just thought it’s an Apple safety feature

My iPad Pro 12,9 2018 started showing the 1-sided charging behavior yesterday, too (at least I noticed it then).
I pinpointed it to the charging cable orientation by trying it with 2 cables and 2 chargers in every combination.

Very annoying.
Will have it exchanged under AC+ next week, except if they officially recognize it as an iOS bug that‘s going to be fixed shortly.
I didn‘t have this issue before iOS 12.2.
