Ordered iPad Pro 2018 online from Verizon and recieved the unit with dent on the side. I only noticed after I activated it and put a matte screen..

I don’t know what caused the dent but I saw some kind of mark from the box both shipping and ipad pro.

I already called Customer Care from Verizon and they told me it will take 2-5 days to get resolved. This is so frustrating...

Ah sorry that's happened to you. Is it not an option to get it swapped out at Apple? Definitely looks like it got beat up in transit. Surprising as the boxes are usually pretty strong. It must have been a pretty hard hit.

I am not sure if you can swap it by going to apple store.... i will wait until Tuesday

Ouch. Definitely get it exchanged. You’ve gotta be picky with these new iPads, they require very close examination to make sure you get a good one.

Just for future reference, when you get the next one. Verify it’s touch screen closely, type a lot with it for a few hours, or days just to make sure it is functioning at 100%.

I’m on my 3rd one. Luckily this one is absolutely perfect!

I don't see how that insignificant amount of damage to the box could be connected to the damage on the side of iPad. The metal on the iPad is dented to the point of almost perforation; meanwhile the box is practically unharmed.

I've seen deeper impression on boxes from the anti-theft spider cases. Something is off.

Yeah - you mean someone sent it with a dented unit already?

See similar issue happened about 3mos ago

It’s in the same spot, so are you legitimately suggesting that it’s more likely that the OP had some incident that struck the same exact spot on the iPad he received, then not only had a similar size and shape mark on the box, but that he chose to construct some lie in order to draw attention to his issue on an Internet forum?

What would be the point of that?

Or, alternatively, are you just so ignorant that you assume that in the millions of devices that Apple ships in a year, that there’s the rare occasion that a device is damaged through a box? Are you truly that sympathetic to Apple that you’d delude yourself of all logic, and accuse someone of being a liar just to defend them?

You're putting a whole lot of words in klover's metaphorical mouth. klover simply said that "something is off", referring to any association or implication that the light damage to the box could have cause the damage to the iPad itself, which of course it could not. For those of us who don't jump to judgment, this is the equivalent of a raised eyebrow, nothing more or less.

Personally I raised an eyebrow too, which is very different from assuming that the OP is a liar. I've opened many hundreds of Apple products and have never seen anything like this. However, the fact that the iPad came from Verizon makes me less skeptical of the OP. I wouldn't be very surprised if Verizon repackaged returned iPads and I wouldn't be surprised if a dented return otherwise went unnoticed by those who handle returns at Verizon.

Anyway, it seems that you don't distinguish between having a degree of skepticism and full on accusation. If the OP is being honest (I would give the benefit of the doubt), then adding the bit about the very light box damage might weaken their case, which is helpful for them to know.

Verizon too. Sounds like the most plausible scenario. Hopefully they will be reasonable with the return for you.

Update guys... I'm glad that Verizon was able to do a replacement of the item. Took it 4 days to get resolved. They also credit me the cost of the Paper Like screen cover. All is good. New iPad will arrive today via overnight shipping. I will make sure that I will take a video when I do the unboxing.

The reason why I posted my experience of receiving a dented iPad is to ask if someone had experience the same. I've been with Verizon for 3 years now, all ordered from them in total of the following iPhone X (2), iPhone XS Max, Apple Watch (3), Apple Watch (4).

Thanks everyone.
