RAM has nothing to do with the handwriting performance. I'm skeptical that this is really an issue - what program are you using to take notes in? There are VAST differences in the performance of the Pencil depending on app. In the best of them, the Apple Pencil has by far the least amount of lag of any stylus available today. Having written literally thousands of pages of notes and writing with the Pencil and all manner of other styli, I imagine this is a combination of the adjustment period required in moving to digital writing, and the particular app you are using. Nothing to do with RAM.

Puonti,
By meaning next year , you mean early 2017?

My teacher speaks too fast. It's a shame that I cannot slow my speed of writing due to that I would not be able to catch up with my class
Why in the world do you think RAM has anything to do with Pencil response time?

I've written on both the 12.9 & 9.7(the iPP that I have) & I can say that there is no difference in handwriting performance. I think hammy100 would likely be experiencing a lag in a particular app. Some of the 3rd party apps are better than others in that regard.

Is there any news or rumours of iPad Pro 9.7 with RAM 4GB in the upcoming conferences?
It appears that using Apple Pencil on RAM 2 Gb is to slow to my handwriting.

Regards
I think the real question here is what are you using to take notes that is causing problems if you write too fast? I have. 9.7 pro and I can't replicate this scenario at all however fast I write, lol. How do you know it's the ram that's causing the issue too?

Keeping in mind that RAM is not one of the things that Apple promotes/reveals it is not possible that they will provide an upgrade to the 9.7 Pro that consists solely of a RAM upgrade.

The 9.7 Pro was released 3/2016 (approx. 18 months after the 9.7 Air 2) The mini 4 was released nearly 2 years after the mini 2. (The mini 3 was purely a cosmetic release)

Since Apple has said repeatedly that customers don't replace their iPads as frequently as they used to, it seems that they've moved beyond the 12 month release cycle to an 18 month cycle or longer.

I expect the 9.7 Pro (internals) to be updated no sooner than 9/2017 though the introduction of a jade gold model could appear in 3/2017. Unless there is some new capabilities introduced into iOS that would require 4GB, I don't believe such an upgrade would include 4GB RAM.

The 12.9 Pro was released in 11/2015 with an additional storage option available 3/2016. I would be surprised to see the 12.9 Pro updated in 2016. I'm betting on a 3/2017 for the 2nd gen 12.9 Pro.

...or they could be drip feeding small incremental changes to keep interest/hooking more people into their devices ( like with the additional storage option)

If so, we could expect something like true tone in Nov for the 12.9 with a '2nd gen' for both in 2017....

That is absolutely a possibility.

To all people who are asking the RAM and handwriting

To be honest,I am planning to buy one of these (either 9.7" or 12.9") but I will use it mainly on Note-Taking with Apple Pencil and Notabillity, opening textbooks via PDF Expert , using multi-screen and Watchig videos. For those who are asking how fast I write. I write at approximately 4-5 letters per one second (using the timer included in my iPhone 5s). Now I don't know if RAM is the issue or not but some people don't experience this problem.

It is not that 2GB isn't enough. Rather, it is the feeling that using 12.9" is much more better than 9.7"

I do really want to know what affects the speed of Apple Pencil.Expressing your opinion with only factual evidence will be much appreciated

Lastly, for those who doesn't care much about using Apple Pencil. I would rather conclude my question as if there would be an internal upgrade for iPad Pro 9.7" in the near future.

Thank You

iOS gets updates on the pencil state 240 times a second, but it will pool those updates together and send the information to the app at 60 updates per second. The updates will have all 4 data points from that slice of time, so the app can use the full resolution of the Pencil. The updates also have predictions for the next 1/60th of a second, so the app can minimize the lag that the user sees. But here's where things get messy. If the app ignores the predicted touches, then it will appear to lag more than an app that does. If the app spends too much time updating the screen in response to these events, then it get them less frequently, making it appear to lag.

Apple gives developers the tools to refresh the screen at 60 FPS, but if the app can't or doesn't do it, it will suffer compared to an application that can pull it off. And a lot of the work is designing your application so that it doesn't need to do too much while handling Pencil input.

RAM is not a factor, because to create this tight input loop, you don't need much. The slightly faster clocked CPU in the 12.9" (~6%) will have a small impact in apps that can hit this 60fps on the 12.9", but just barely.

Ram does not affect the writing speed in correlation to your apple pencil. The CPU in the small pro is the same as the larger, tests have shown the smaller one is not underclocked. The CPU will drive the performance of the pencil. If the speed isn't good enough for you on the little pro, the bigger pro will not be any different.

Wow, its 1 1/2 years old now?

it isn't selling well, its a very niche product due to its size. I doubt they are in a hurry to refresh them when they are having trouble moving them even with the bi-weekly sales they have on them through retailers.

Have Heard a couple of people say this, unless there is something in the new iOS that will come that requires 4GB RAM, Apple may not be in a hurry to up their RAM for no reason !

Absolutely! Factual evidence is always appreciated.
And for this reason you should probably go back to your original posting and rephrase it.
I understand that English is not your first language, but your original post gives the impression that you own a 9.7"Pro and you find it too slow to cope with your handwriting, moreover you seem convinced that this is because of the amount of RAM.

When I read that posting I thought you were trolling as there is no way the amount of RAM could affect the ability of the smaller pro to keep up with your handwriting.
It is now clear that you don't have a 9.7" Pro at all and language it the issue here.
You should amend your posting.
