A few days ago my iPad refused to charge. I would plug it in and it wouldn’t even say “not charging“, it was still at 5%. I decided to turn it off for the night and try again tomorrow. The next morning it was charging. After 2 hours it was at 100% (whish is usual charging speed for me). I was using it for 2 days without charging again, but when it was time to charge, same problem. I checked the cable, it was working on all my other devices. No other cables worked on the iPad either. The iPad would recognise some cables by saying “unlock to use accessories”. After cleaning the port and hard resetting (multiple times). It still didn’t work. So i decided to attempt a DFU restore. I plugged it into my PC with the intent to back it up first. My PC recognized the iPad, but iTunes didn’t. Without being able to back it up first, i gave up on the DFU restore. So last night it shut down. I tried to turn it on, but it showed the empty battery icon. I plugged it in and the apple logo appeared. It turned on, as soon as it did, the battery lit up on the screen and said “charged 5%”, but when it disappeared, it wasn’t charging. So with the cable plugged in, I turned it off. This morning I turned it on and it was at 100%. When I went into battery settings it said this:

The last charge level is from the time I turned it on by plunging it in. There is that blank spot from 18h to 12h. I don’t know if it always looks like that when it charges when it’s off because i never do that. Because of how it behaves with my PC and iTunes, i think it’s a software issue. It’s updated to 13.4, which is currently the latest version for it. What do I do from here? All stores are closed, so i can’t get it fixed, but I need it for school.

Do you have access to a USB-C PD 19w (and above) charger and the USB-C to lightning? If so, you gotta have to try if you can’t reach an Apple Store.

If the problem remains it’s probably the power controller on the board and Apple will not fix it. They’ll definitely propose a discount on a refurbished model.

You could always contact Apple support.
I will try, but i don’t know if they support my location.

I don’t have access to those cables, but I will try to get one from my friends.

What's the point? The Pro 9.7 doesn't support USB PD.

Try cleaning the Lightning port again. If the PC recognized the iPad but iTunes didn't, make sure iTunes is updated to the latest version. Also, install iMazing. You can check battery health on the free version.

Failing iTunes backup, how about iCloud? It's $0.99 for 50GB and $2.99 for 200GB.

It's $99 for battery and $379 for out of warranty replacement. Dunno if Apple offers Express Replacement if you don't have AC+. I think you might be better off buying a refurb 2017 Pro 10.5 or 2018 Pro 11 if none of the troubleshooting works.

Correct, just the PD charger can sustain the power delivery on 12w consistently.
