Text message is a different thing. It needs different radio support. Wifi or 4G doesn't carry traditional text. iMessage or WhatsApp is server based solutions that use internet to mimic text messaging.

What's Air, iPad or MacBook?

Are you able to call from your Pro? Have you tried disabling and re-enabling your iCloud account?

I havent yet upgraded to pro these replies are from existing ipad air with o2

can someone please answer what has changed with text messages since air to ipad pro?

I thought a pro upgrade would bring existing features plus a nice screen and sound upgrade

for past 18 months ive been making and receiving iphone6 calls and texts via ipad air 1 and previous macbooks 2011 and 2013

Ok, is that connected with your iCloud account which is also connected to your phone?
exactly is this possible with ipad pro 9.7?

Ok nothing has changed related to text messaging. We were never able to text from iPads since the beginning. It just uses your iCloud account to sync with apple server to deliver the texts from your phone to your iPad.

It seems the iCloud account may not be syncing properly with your new iPad. Try to logout of it and reset the device and log back in. Check under messaging if all the settings match with your existing air. It should be fine.

Yes as long as your iPad has internet connectivity and you use the same iCloud account, it will all workout. Carriers have no control over it. It's all on apple servers.

9.7 out of stcock via o2

slight increase in cost if I upgrade to in stock 10.5 pro silver

order tonight delevered tomorrow

might review the recent yellow screen posts hopefuly not a genuine screen fault

wonder if there are any 10,5 keyboards yet as my existing air bluetooth keyboard wont hold 10.5 which I find very comfortable typing at home

since deciding either 9.7 pro 256 gb in stock o2 uk
or 10.5

Think 9.7 pro has been quite some time desired device though slightly disapointed the 32gb isnt in stock

my choice is either 9.7@44 per month
10.5@40 per month

at least I can recycle air and redeem 115 from pro 194 or 225 upfront device payment

thats what happens when I get the I want new tech device needs and wants feeling

If the air is doing your daily job then don't get either. That's my honest opinion. It will be supported by iOS 11 as well.

think maybe ios11 pb2 isnt the best tbh

only slight pauses though probably sorted later pb’s

its the nice new screen and more importantly stereo sound are my pro needs

not to mention some home dare i say it work related studying

though with approx 30 mb data use from 500 mb-I cant say I’ll every use 2 gb if I go pro 9.7

edited I got data and storage mixed up
though I could use existing bluetooth keyboard

maybe 256gb will be handy for studying

I’m certain 10.5 is technicaly improved cpu etc though I dont need a larger screen and not thinking of a keyboard upgrade yet
