First, it specifically said on the website that it's not shipping until 3/31 so that pretty much ensures there's no chance of receiving it on the 31st. Second, stock for anyone except Apple is typically pretty iffy upon release. I've had iPhone and iPad pre-orders from AT&T and Verizon get delayed by weeks to a month, too. Carriers and retailers often don't know just how much stock and what configurations they'll receive until they receive shipment. If you want your devices right away, bear that in mind for future purchases. Safer to buy directly from Apple.
If you want better logistics now, perhaps you can just cancel your B&H pre-order and order from Apple. Their shipping times are fairly accurate (actually has quite a bit of padding) and Apple.com and Apple Retail Stores get priority.
I guess despite all the folks on here bemoaning the iPad Pro 9.7 only having 2GB RAM and the $100 price bump, the device was more popular than expected. 🙄
I guess I'll have it in mind for future Apple purchases from B&H.
I'm ordering the new Lighting to USB 3 connector (I use MIDI devices and want to skip the in-the-middle USB hub) BUT this time I'm just waiting. If it's available this week or early next week I'll order otherwise it'll be another time.
Problem is like I mentioned I'm not in the US (South America) and Apple won't accept my dirty third world south american money so I cannot even try and buy from the store (international billing address = goodbye, and even if I fake it, freight forwarder address in Florida = goodbye).
Also I cannot cancel the order since they charged my CC already, so it'd take too long for them to refund (and hence release the charge and my CC is at the limit now) since they charge (and so is stated on their pre-order page, so no monkey business here, very clear) international customers on order placement.
However I just checked B&H and well, seems like things are looking optimistic, the iPad went from "On order" (= suck it, boy) to "In stock, order sent to warehouse Expedited Delivery " which I assume it's a beautiful way of them saying "we read your bitching post at MacRumors and you're good to go for that 31st shipment.
I only mentioned Amazon's delivery same day as a way to share my pre-order experiences, but I'm totally fine with an April 4-5 delivery date. Just was a bit angry at the uncertainty
🙂
Just crossing fingers "In stock, order sent to warehouse Expedited Delivery" really means what it, well, states.
