I like to spend 20-30 minutes every day doing circles, ellipses, and lines as a warm up. it happens most while i do this exercise.. but it also happens while drawing and painting (much less with screen protector). The IPP keeps thinking my palm is fingers (activating pan tilt, or undo redo, or the pen randomly stops working while im trying to draw).

I am baffled, i seem to be the only person who has mentioned these glitches. its weird, sometimes its really bad, other times not as much. its possibly temperature dependent also. Meaning when the tablet is cold (i live in a freezing warehouse) and i just start to use it, its seems to happen allot more.

Im wondering if i have a defective unit, or if im just mentally defective? haha. Maybe i dont understand palm rejection? I have finger paint turned off. all other settings on default. i have zero issues on all my other tablets like this.

Software is procreate.

here is a quick rough video i shot, it was not as glitchy as usual (of course) but i got the issue on film. Any insights greatly appreciated. maybe i just need to change some habits i have developed from wacom?

Two questions. Does it happen with other software as well (like Apple's Notes) and do you have mutitouch gestures turned on or off (like for the five-finger app close, 4-finger swipe to switch apps, etc).

It could be a Procreate issue, which in that case would be unique to that app and not indicative of a hardware or OS fault. And while I haven't tested with the iPP and Pencil, I know that for passive styli, having the multitouch gestures turned on would sometimes cause software-based palm rejection to fail or activate other functions.

The gestures are on.

I have only tested procreate. all the other apps are not so good or have other bugs that make them useless. good suggestion. thanks! ill try notes when i get home from school. im guessing its a bug. but it sure kills the drawing experience for me. ill try turning off the gestures. maybe that will help until if or when this gets fixed.

Another thing to consider is that your Pencil could be defective and isn't registering. Try deleting the Pencil from the Bluetooth device list and re-pairing.

The tip of your pencil is loose. Screw it back on tightly.
I need to screw the tip back in on an almost daily basis. Maybe it's Apple's skeuomorphic representation of needing to sharpen the pencil. :)

Even if you have Procreate setup to only allow gestures for finger/hand input your palm can "look" like a two-finger gesture. That will make the canvas rotate or zoom while you're drawing. It's happened to me. Couldn't figure it out at first.

yes, this sucks!

I don't know what you're doing, because I definitely don't have the same issue. Occasionally if I'm resting my palm beside the iPad and drag it onto the screen from the border it registers as a finger input briefly but typically self-corrects once it registers the Pencil. Looks like something similar is happening in your video sometimes because you rest your palm on the border.

im just drawing, see the video. been using umake also. i get horrible palm rejection here too. apple does not know how to make good art tablets yet. or mine is defective. or its individual software apps issues.

I've got Procreate setup so it's impossible to draw anything with my fingers (or hand). Look under the IOS Settings for the Procreate App. Procreate ignores everything except for my pencil.

Yes I have that setting also. The issue is that the screen moves all over, like video shows. Thanks for the idea though!

I have seen palm issues with procreate demoed on several videos on you tube.

Yes. I hope this is a developer issue. good luck!
interesting, ill check those out. seems as a first gen tool it has some teething issues. not surprising.
