Is there a specific format that works the fastest on iPad Files app. Are there any speed limitations on the USB C port?
I have the 2020 iPP and a Samsung USB C drive with MacOS Journaled format and it had write speed of 65MBps and read of 350MBps on my Mac. Copying files to the flash drive of size 6.75GB took about 10 minutes => ~11 MBps write.

Reading the files took about 25 seconds on my Mac. I tried copy the same files to a different drive on my iPP and it took 1 minute and 20 seconds => 67MBps read.

I bought this expensive flash drive with very high speeds to work primarily with iPP. I hate the fact that Files app does not have a progress bar to see how the progress of the transfer is and the speed of transfer.

Are there are drive speed tests on the iPP? Am I doing anything wrong?

APFS seems to work fastest for me but with limits re: interoperability
Yes APFS has limits. I just tried APFS, yes it is a little better than MacOS Journaled, about 120 MBps read and 43 MBps write. With both formats BlackMagic speed test on Mac shows 370MBps read and 65MBps write.

So the iPP USB C port is not fully capable with any format?

It's not clear where the slowdown actually is - port, other h/w, s/w (OS)?

I’m not sure as well. I’m using the fastest flash drive. Tried both APFS and MacOS Journaled formats. Using Apple’s Files app.

Given previous issues and the apparent immaturity of the implementation, I'm thinking that the problem lies within Files and/or underlying s/w or f/w support. Which would be good as there'd be hope for improvements with updates. H/W issues is a whole different problem.

Hopefully it’s just s/w or the app.
