Same thing happened to my brother's iPad Pro 13"

Sadly couple months out of warrenty. Best hope is a class action/recall sort of thing. Least the face id still works.

I have a M1 Pro, same issue. Activated Jan 2024
It’s not mould the screen is sealed all the way round. It’s not green. My front mic works and I can’t imagine sweat going down the hole and across to the camera.
The camera would steamed up if moisture got to it.

It’s some sort of glue seeping out.
The front camera on these model is often where a finger is placed in landscape mode. (I’m left handed but it should apply to right handers)
Maybe the heat from a thumb has softened the glue?
The front camera is still working but the glue is working towards the middle.
I’ll be annoyed if Face ID stops working. Only the Pro models have it and the Pro models cost a fortune.

Curious how many of us are having the same issue and apple doesn’t want to know

I have owned iPad since the first one was introduced and have never seen any of these issues.
I’ve had iPad2, 4 and a couple of Airs, no issue with front camera. However my 3rd gen iPad Pro has this issue. The only model where the front camera is so important, for Face ID

Camera is now useless for Face time and Zoom also, makes you want to reconsider spending so much on a pro model .

Here’s mine, it has got worse since the photo was taken 2 weeks ago. Inside image from the net. I think the area behind the glass has a filter glued to it and this is failing. The camera isn’t glued to the glass it just rests against it, with the filter in between. The glue edge of the screen (double sided tape) is narrow in that area. Unlikely all of us have allowed moisture to get it.
When mine stops working I may attempt to get in there to clean it. There are video but it looks risky. Might have a go at apple under our consumer laws, which is how long should a product reasonably last, partly based on cost
