iPad Pro iPad Pro M1 with 27” 5k LG display?

I have been searching but couldn’t find the answer:
will a M1 iPad Pro connect to my trusty 27” 5k from LG?

Edit: not so great, this is the 2019 KL model, I have the 2017/2018 KA model.

I assume your monitor has an HDMI port? Just get a cable that has an HDMI connector on one end and a USB-C connector on the other. I got this HDMI to USB-C cable and the M1 iPad works perfectly with my 2019 55" Sony 4K TV.

No, this one only has thunderbolt 3. Or usb-c but those can’t drive the display, only for input.

Have you tried using a thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cable? If a computer can drive the display with those cables, why couldn't an iPad?

I have a 2018 iPad Pro 11” which only supports usb-c. And usb-c can’t drive 5k.
But the trouble is that this display uses two panels that combine into a 27” 5k display. That is a tricky thing to drive, so even though the latest iPad Pro’s have thunders bolt I’m still not sure it will drive this display. The 2019 LG version has a single display that is easier to drive.

Why would LG have to make the 5K display out of two panels? LG has been supplying 5k panels to Apple for their 27" iMacs for quite a while now (since 2014). Why don't you ask Apple support if the M1 iPads can drive your monitor. Apple apparently collaborated with LG to make them. At least that's what the LG 27MD5KA-B reviews say.

I have no idea why they would do that, perhaps a yield or price thing. but it’s more common than you think. Almost all huge 40”+ displays are just two 24 or 27” panels glued together.
