Hey, I've got an iPad Pro 11-inch M1 and a 27" 4K monitor.

When I connect via this USB-C to HDMI cable it appears to be in 1080p (or similar) - grainy.

But when I connect via the official Apple AV dock it's clearly in 4K - detailed.

Why is this?

Obviously, it's more elegant to use a single, white USB-C cable at my desk.

Thanks

I think you have a DP 1.2 cable (internally, externally it's HDMI but internally it uses DP protocol, only certified for 1.2). So you get downgraded with the iPad and some Macs.

You need a cable with DP 1.4 version, hard to know unfortunately unless you have a cable tester or the manufacturer says so.

Maybe try the firmware update?

Thanks for the tip - CableMatters confirmed that it's only DP 1.2.

I don't get how they can advertise this as a 4K cable?
