Probably not the best description but even after 15-30 mins seriously gets noticeably very warm.
Had it now since it was released but only over the past few days it has been really noticeable.

Running anything else? Do you run beta? Specific apps that do this? iPadOS 18.0.1?
As Sherlock said: “Data!data!data! I can't make bricks without clay.”
:)

Could you explain the work-flow that results in warm temperatures?

- Are you performing any video/photo editing?
- Video/photo exporting?
- Watching a YT video and it gets warm?
- Playing a game?
- Running beta OS?

My M4 iPad gets randomly hot while charging. Yesterday it displayed a message that charging has been restricted to 80% because iPad Temp is too high. So I panicked and shut the iPad down. Turned it on after 5 mins and then I got a message “Unknown Display part” and a new Service menu appeared under Settings -> General -> About where it asked me to repair the display. Then I again rebooted it and then the message went away. iPadOS 18.0.1 is seriously borked. I might have to book Apple Appointment.

If your iPad displays an "Unknown Part" message, its because the display or another component was replaced with a part that is not genuine.

Apple will assist in replacing the display, but it will come as significant cost to you. A screen replacement is $500+Tax.

What do you say when that message disappears after rebooted?

PS: I have purchased this straight from Apple and I have never ever given it to third party shop for repairs for whatever reason. 3U diagnostics says that the Original Part numbers match with actual parts.
Now there is no service message. Just that my iPad still gets hot while charging and stops charging beyond 80%.

Just for my own sense of humor. Go to Settings > General > About to check the parts and service history. Does it say Genuine or Unknown.

Sorry been busy only use it for really surfing the web really.
Not been on it much yesterday or today but scrolling through sites just there was murder really jittery, turned it off then on, back to normal.
Busy week at work so probably Thursday before I do anything taxing, see what happens then, both of these things have never happened before.

It’s back again, only been on it surfing the web after 30 mins you can notice it feeling hot, and the scrolling jittery🤷🏼‍♂️
Turn it off then back on cured the last time, so do that again further problems further down the line i think.
