I agree. It's definitely not a traditional tablet experience.

The gaps between apps icon is too much, it's not comfortable to hold even. The only way to use it comfortably is to put it on a table or a stand.

I would like to see an iPad Pro stand being sold right now, since the iPad Pro keyboard cover is nowhere to be found.

Except didn't we see issues like this with the iPhone 5 when it first came out, or the number of apps per folder page when folders first came out? When Apple gets around to it, the density of apps per page will get higher. People just need to be a little patient. Apple has a long history of changing things to make them better in future OS updates, especially with first gen products.

Speakers are definitely not tinny on mine.. Lots of depth and clarity for a "tablet".. I mean, if there's "tablet audio" that should be used as a reference I cannot think of a better tablet to compare it to.. I've had Surface Pro 1, 2, 3, and many front facing tablets and nothing so far has come close to the clarity/oomph the Pro has.

I'm sure lots of people will disagree and that's fine as everyone is entitled to an opinion, I just thought I would share mine...

I don't disagree with anything you're saying, but your review almost reads as if you expected the iPad Pro to come with a different operating system. Did you not know that it simply came with iOS? Your expectations seem to indicate otherwise.

The iPad Pro looks ok but honestly who would get this over a Surface Pro 4? Like you said, its essentially a blown up phone OS. So limiting.

I returned my SP4 for the iPad.

Has anyone considered the fact that this is just an iPad and not a MacBook? If you want a full desktop experience buy a Mac. If you think iOS is good for your needs than iPad pro is the product for you. Don't try to criticize iOS and its limitations for what it isn't.

Just my honest humble opinion.

That's an excellent point. I think I was just trying to be ignorant to the fact it's the same old iOS that runs on every other iPad. I thought that maybe my perspective might change when I got it in my hands, but if anything it has worsened.

I do however feel for the sub five percent of niche tasks this iPad will be awesome. The app Djay is so good on the pro and I'm sure designers will love apps like pro create etc but for me and probably three quarters of the rest of the world, I need the other ninety five percent of functionality to justify buying this iPad over a normal sized/cheaper iPad and a MacBook... In an ideal world one device would do both, as the pro should have done, but Apple would rather you have to buy both as it's in the interest of their pockets and there shareholders.

The perfect combo for me remains an iMac for real computing and an iPad Air or Mini for browsing the web, reading emails, playing games, watching movies in bed and reading the news while going for a poo :)

The speakers are not bad. Simple as that. They just didn't live up to your expectations

OR... The speakers are bad but, because Apple has never been good at making speakers, we've been trained to lower our expectations to such a level that "Hey, it is louder" is considered "Amazing Audio"...

the speakers are load, maybe not like the Macbook or 15" Macbook pro, but better than any ipad or tablets and even macbook air or 13" macbook pro

I'm surprised by your comments as the speakers out of the box were the first thing that blew me away. Far better than my rMBP or any iOS device. Except for system sounds, there is that bug. But for everything else all I could say was wow!

Guys, we are forgetting that ANY laptop/tablet/phone speakers pale in comparison to a real pair of speakers and/or to a good set of headphones. This is true on any of the consumer products available today. Any improvement on the sound of a tablet, any tablet, will give still tiny, puny sound. So, I would suggest we stop complaining about this.

I'm just wondering what exactly it is you can't do on the iPad Pro that you can do on a Mac. I do a ton of coding and am constantly working on my research server with my iPad Air and it works beautifully. It effectively has full shell access, which is a pretty good indicator that it can do absolutely anything you want it to do.

The problem here is everyone has had access to Windows or MacOS/OSX for so long, they don't remember how to learn a new OS. It's just a new way of doing things and no one has the patience anymore to actually learn a new way of doing things.

One of the great things about this device is that the screen is finally big enough to remote into systems and clearly see that you're doing. So when I need to remote into a server at work, I can see what I'm doing and HOPEFULLY not blow something up on an emergency call.

I'd consider myself an audiophile and while you're not wrong, it's about what has been achieved here in the limited space of the iPad Pro that is impressive.. Yes, a nice pair of cans are an option.. not always comfortable in all areas of life. So the next point is why carry a bluetooth speaker when the iPad Pro speakers are 90% as good as a high end BT speaker.. I have a few Bose BT speakers for comparison and the only area the Bose BT speakers outshine the iPad is in pure volume and bass.. but clarity is about the same.

Edit: I can now confidently not have to pack a BT speaker in my luggage/bag when I travel now because I can enjoy the output of the iPad Pro's speakers.

Actually, lots of "other brand" notebooks have great sound. And in fact, many of those devices licensed Beats to design the audio experience. So, considering Apple paid big money for Beats, to "complain" about audio quality is a valid discussion topic.

I will return it now. And reconsider when "Apple gets around to it".

No, they do not sound all bad, but the sound from all the B&O/Beats branded laptops speakers is still tiny/puny when compared to a pair of autonomous speakers (except the pills, please). My point is, no matter how well designed any laptop or tablet speakers are, they still will be way worse than normal independent speakers.

The speakers are very much geared for dialog in movies, tv shows, or facetime calls. It seems like this was the focus and this is where it shines. They are average to above average for other uses, such as music.

Tell us a better oem speakers from a laptop that sound better than macbook or 15" mbp

I suspect that the iPad Pro will sell just fine, but at the same time I feel that it could have sold much better with a better OS. iPad Pro is missing its potential because of iOS.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see OS X on it as many others do, but there is a lot of room for iOS to grow.

I would have to agree regarding the speakers. They are good, but I wasn't surprised about the sound quality/loudness like I was when I cranked up my 12 inch macbook to maximum volume..
