Hi all

I've been looking to buy an iPad for basic surfing and watching series/movies. I don't think I'll be using it for anything else. I have an iPhone and that is also only used for those purposes.

For that reason the choice would be obvious to go for the cheaper iPad. But what are some advantages worth noting about the Pro that are definitely worth having?

And why does the Ipad Mini cost more than the iPad?

I was having similar thoughts recently, except I already had an iPad that was given to me as a gift. I used it for about a month but checked out the Pro at the Apple Store, and noticed how much more responsive it is, it feels different on your hands and overall I liked the screen better.
Long story short I bought a Pro a couple of days ago with a Black Friday deal for $499, and will sell my iPad. To me it was worth the upgrade.

After owning both, I returned my 10.5 Pro and kept the latest 9.7. I didn’t need the new features of the Pro, and was impressed with the 9.7 display. The additional cost also wasn’t worth it to me.

2gb vs 4gb.
With the greater amount of RAM, the iPad Pro will likely have greater longevity (iOS updates).

I kind of feel the Pro has features not in the 9.7 that will give that tablet better longevity then the 9.7. I could be wrong. I also like that its a tad larger and the performance is great. I totally understand my use case is not the same as the OP's.

I just ordered an iPad (2017) 32gb with cellular. I'm upgrading from an iPad Air 64 T-Mobile. Using 22 gb of space.

Anybody want to chime in while it is still in transit and returnable?

I'd just sell the Air and do things on my MacBook. But the iPad has a lot better battery life than the MacBook.

I use the iPad to 1) watch movies/Youtube 2) web browsing (this is what frustrates me about the Air, some sites freeze) 3) a little music and a little email but I do most of that on the MacBook, 4) (this is important) using the GPS to locate myself on Maps when I am driving in unfamiliar territory.

I could use my Garmin GPS to bluetooth to a wifi only iPad and locate myself on the Delorme maps that come with the GPS. But Delorme maps are kind of crappy re: roadways and streets.

Thanks.
