A friend of mine has just purchased an iPad Pro 9.7 with Apple Pencil.

To her, the "killer" app would essentially be an iPad Pro app that mimics a paper diary, containing each day of the year, where she can write any tasks etc she has for the day.

I've had a search but haven't found anything that meets her needs.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Maybe have a look in this forum at the recent discussions regarding note taking apps, some might be what you're looking for. Personally, when it comes to diary writing / journaling I have switched to Day One years ago.

I couldn't tell you what they are like to use, sorry, but there are a couple of other apps that look good & mimic a paper diary. Take a look at Moleskine Journal and Moleskine Notes.

For journaling, nothing beats Day One... but it's a text entry app. I thought they were adding support for handwritten notes, but it hasn't appeared yet (that I know of...).

For the handwritten, Molesking Journal and Paper by 53 are decent journals.
